Food & Exercise -- 9/15/2004
Food (another day at class downtown -- brought all my food with me):
6:00 (driving to metro station): ready-to-drink chocolate protein shake 8:00 (class): 2 hard-boiled eggs 9:30 (class): 1 cup maple/raisin hot cereal (comes in a cup to which you add boiling water) 1:00 (class): 76g ham; 3 slices f/f cheese 4:30 (class): energy bar 8:00 (home): 1 turkey burger w/ 2 slices f/f cheese on 1 slice whole grain bread; 3 mint meringue cookies {I know -- no fruit or veggies. Sometimes my stomach doesn't feel like it will handle them well.} Exercise: None of significance -- it's a rest day. Some walking to/from subway, and while shopping at lunch hour. Left out the totals:
1262 calories, 31g fat (22%), 134g carbs (42%), 110g protein (35%) I know this is low for the day, but I'm not hungry for any more and am about to go to bed. I do have good dinners out planned for Friday and Saturday nights, though :-). Chris |

I know it'll up your fat somewhat, but it will also up your calorie level to what you're aiming for without adding extra food for which you're not hungry. Just a thought... Amy |

Amy That's a good thought, Amy. But I think maybe I eat too much of it for that, given that dairy isn't really a healthy fat (and because I also eat a lot of eggs -- also not a great fat source). I'd probably rather spend the calories on something like nuts, which I love and which are healthier. But I am more liberal with eating real cheese when I go to the wine events and such. My lifting coaches tell me I should try to add protein calories to my diet in order to up the total calories, but many protein-rich foods are particularly filling, so this isn't the easiest thing to do if I'm not especially hungry.
