Default New poster - Question re Atkins induction

Hello there

I've been recommended that I post my question here having asked it on
alt.support.thyroid.

I am just about to embark on the fourth day of the induction phase of the
Atkins diet. I am disappointed to see no reduction in weight at all so far.
How soon can I expect to see a loss in weight.

this is what I've eaten

day 1 - roasted chicken quarter and two cups of green leaves.
NY strip steak and one cup of green beans.

day 2 - cheese omlette
roasted chicken quarter and two cups of green leaves.
pork chop and one cup of broccolli.

day 3 - three slices of baby swiss cheese.
tuna in sunflower oil (drained) and two cups of green leaves.
Grilled trout and green beans.

I have drunk the correct amount of water
I have had a couple of cups of tea and coffee per day with milk

Should I be losing weight?

I'd really appreciate your comments.

Thanks

Marika

You mentioned a couple of cups of tea and coffee... what kind of tea? Have
you switched to decaf coffee? Milk is not on the induction list of allowed
foods.

You left off how much your starting weight is. It seems that people with
more to lose, start losing bigger chunks during induction.
However - it's only been 4 days! Induction lasts two weeks. Some people
might not see a loss in weight until the end of the second week, when they
see a nice surprise.

Don't worry about it yet. If you want some reassurance, you might want to
try the ketostix because that may tell you if you're in ketosis.

Although... hubby and I just tried them for the first time today. I've lost
11 lbs, he has lost 2. My stick turned the lightest shade of pink (some
ketones detected) on the box, and his turned a darker purple (more ketones).
We were both a little puzzled. Hopefully seeing the results of his stick
will give him some reassurance to stick with this, though.

Default New poster - Question re Atkins induction

Thank you for your reply.

I am 5ft 4ins tall and weigh 182 (13 stone). This is massively overweight.
That's why I thought I'd see results quickly. I suffer with hypothyroidism,
but that's now under control. I suppose I'll just have to be patient.

Thanks again

If what you mean by your hypothyroidism being "under control" is that you're
on some kind of drug to treat it... drugs can often slow down or even stall
weight loss.
(I'm not saying to stop taking your drugs)

Just be aware that you may need more patience to be successful than other
people.

Good Luck!
