Default Argh!! Damn Worms

Well, I got nailed with the Netsky worm yesterday (d'oh!);
after 10 years on the Net, this is my first infection. I
think I removed all the nasty files, but I will feel better
if I format my HD, which I've been meaning to do again,
anyway.

This is also a good excuse to install FitDay PC and get all
of my usual foods put into the database. So I'll update you
guys on how I'm doing in a couple of days. Keep up the good
work while I'm gone! And thanks to all of you for your
support -- this group does make things a bit easier... :-)

Cheers - J.J.

You should not have to format your HD...you can get a free removal tool for
Netsky he

BTW - I've seen some Netsky variants recently that were very sneaky. Most
folks know enough not to click on an attachment, but one of the Netsky
emails I received had an innocent looking link in the text. Clicking it
triggered Netsky, but my virus checker prevented it from installing itself.

This is a good reason why everyone should be running an antivirus program
(and keep it up to date), and a firewall. This is especially true if you
are on a broadband connection (cable modem, DSL, etc.).

You can get a good, free antivirus solution he

Hi -

I just wanted to take some time and reply to this thread. There are
some pretty nasty and tricky virii getting passed around, and some of
them fool even experienced Usenet/web types. I had a friend try to
download a DVD graphic and something was embedded in that. Perhaps it
was Netsky or not, I don't know. But this guy works in IT and is well
beyond an 'average' user, and uses a hardware firewall in addition to
the usual anti virus and port blocker utilities. Its getting tricky
out here I guess.
