Now, I like looking around in this sort of
store, but am I the only one to think that most stores of this type are

kind
of creepy? It's almost as if they are the modern incarnation of the snake
oil salesman...

I thought it was just me vbg. Our local "Natural Food" store has a
fundamentalist
Christian feel, all of the personnel walk around with severe faces and
address each other
as "Mr", "Miss" etc. There are bible verses attached to several of the
products as well.
I did get some really good basic information when we were first
investigating Low Carb,
but I've moved on to other stores, simply because this store was a little
too "woo-woo"
for me.

It's not just health food stores. I got this while shopping for a TV.
The salesperson tried to explain why the expensive TV was better and
was obviously parrotting something she was told. I let her go on for
a while, while donning a puzzled look. Then I informed her that I had
an electrical engineering degree, knew exactly how each type of TV
worked, and had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. We got
a TV somewhere else.

I found the low carb section and was amused to see that someone has
already cashed in on the "fad" with a product "guaranteed" to "remove
the toxins caused by the Atkins diet." Now, I like looking around in
this sort of store, but am I the only one to think that most stores
of this type are kind of creepy? It's almost as if they are the
modern incarnation of the snake oil salesman...complete with incense
burners (to increase mood and clear your liver and thyroid) and ear
candles (removes toxins) and the odd potions that guarantee to do
everything from clean your sinuses to remove flaky skin from your
elbows!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
My God! I knew a Natural Health Doctor who gave her son a garlic enema for
his earaches!
Read up on the Quack diagnostic tool of MUSCLE TESTING!
I was a Militant anti quack activist a few yrs ago and Dr Barret from
quackwatch.org Emailed me
and told me "nice work". My mom is now an Herbalist! ACK!
My sister is a PETA card carrying vegetarian who has no clue how to cook or
anything
about nutrition so now shes 400 pounds due to her "Ethical Dietary Choices"
because she eats
nothing but muffins, mac and cheese, pancakes, juice, honey ETC.
Then she once told me that she cant get rid of her yeast infections!
She refuses to believe her Colds arent cured by the antibiotics SHE INSISTS
on being prescribed
and forced me to use Aveda shampoo for the month I stayed at our Dads house
after his death.

I see all these grey looking ppl going into healthfood stores for their
ailment cures.
"HOW ABOUT NOT TAKING SOME OF THAT STUFF?"
With all the stuff they take "for health" on a daily basis, is there any
room for REAL FOOD???
They think there are parasites in their bums! They then flush them out with
olive oil and lemon juice
enemas and crystals appear out their behinds! "LOOK!" They say! There! There
are the parasites!
They then take Colloidal Silver and it ****s them up:

This reminds me of my trip down to Keene, Texas (below Fort Worth) to
check out the health food store down there. Run by Seventh Day
Adventists, it is a unique place for this part of Texas. They had
cans of several different brands of vegetarian offerings, plus they
have a room where grains and other items are sold in bulk. Let's
just say it's "Carob Heaven" down there! (is chocolate sinful or
something?) Over the store's music speakers, they constantly play
either martial music or the Star Spangled Banner in limited rotation.
I like John Philip Sousa, I do, but grocery shopping to "Stars and
Stripes Forever"?

YIKES! That stuff is nasty!

(hmmm ... I wonder if it would disguise my rosacea-red skin ... makes me
realise there are worse things in life than a red face)

Well, there's ionic silver, which is very unstable, and true colloidal
silver, which is stable. The cheap, clear stuff, in colored bottles?
Or the stuff you make yourself with a strip of silver and distilled
water? STAY AWAY! ;-) Unless you want to end up looking like a dead
Smurf.

The stuff that is ice tea colored and in a clear bottle, from my
research, performs safely...
