I once went to a slimming club where the leader used to bring in fat
from the butcher's to show us what x pounds looked like. I assumed it
was animal fat It's quite an impressive sight.

I think it was the cut up remains of her previous failed dieters Wouldn't
*you* lose weight if that was what she did to those that failed? grins

I saw the program, recorded it, and am copying it to CD.
I especially liked the explanation of hemorrhoids in the
After the Show segment. I gave an animated explanation
of the digestive process with emphasis on fiber.

You can see the show on Oprah.com but I'm not sure
about the "After The Show".

Any way to get that from you. I found it facinating.

I still like to occasionally view my loss volume by piling up

blocks of
butter or lard in the shopping cart.

my preferred visual would be GROUND BEEF.

I used to think of it that way, until I realized that ground beef is only
around 20% fat at most. I have a much higher percentage fat than that.

A pound of ground beef is only about 3/4 of the size of a pound of

fat.

again.................a pound of this a pound of
that............................
the VISUAL is what this is about for me.........................

It isn't fat, of course, but I make an analogy to the plates in the

lot of work!

My vacuum cleaner wieghs 22.5 lbs. I know how heavy it is because I
have to carry it up and down stairs when I clean the house and I find
it quite difficult to manage. I can't believe I used to carry the
equivalent of more than four extra cleaners with me everywhere i went,
and I've already lost over 2 of them. What I think about is the
lighter load my feet are having to carry.

But that's my point -- the visual -- if I piled up 40 pounds of ground
beef in my cart to view the size, it would be a quite a bit smaller than
40 pounds of fat (lard, butter).

Ewww!!! I am behind in the posts and just saw this one! I didn't see the
show.. but just reading your post makes me sick! I can't handle seeing
stuff like that, I have a weak stomach. That is why I am a mortgage banker,
not a doctor!!

Hello list,

Just curious if anyone saw Oprah today? They had a doctor on there
showing body parts like lungs, liver, heart, and such. He had some that
were ruined due to human consumption of things like smoking, eating junk
food, alcohol and such. They showed footage of a corpse being cut open

and
showed the fat inside the skin. It was bright yellow and they showed fat
that appeared to be inside the body chest cavity near or around the

organs.

The doctor also brought five pounds of fat that had just been lipo
suctioned out of someone that day. They said it was still warm and the

man
holding it was about 100 pounds over weight. The fat was in a see through
bag and had quite a bit of volume to it. The doctor told the overweight

man
to imagine he's carring about twenty of those bags of fat in his body.

It really makes you think about wanting to lose the fat.

Take care and have a great weekend,

Paul
