You're doing great. I think you will learn over time that if you want to
lose the weight AND keep it off that a lot of the unhealthy foods and habits
will take a hike. You'll reduce your portion sizes which will result in
eating lower points. Give it time and you'll get the picture.

First, the good news- I lost *exactly* 3lbs this week at my first WI. I am
happy with that. I sort of felt like it would be more since I lost 8lbs
during the first week on both of the other rounds but a loss is a loss. I
also at a fairly heavy lunch so that probably didn't help. I planned to

eat
lightly but then I took a walk and I came back STARVED so I had the other
1/2 of my 12in sub from last night (turkey, lettuce, cheese and I used my
own Just2Good mayo) so I think it was 9pts. But see I also had some

croutons
and dressing (I don't know WHY- it was just random and looked good).
Fortunately they were low calorie/fat free and the dressing was a
vinaigrette but that was like 5pts down the drain!
But that's still not the bad news- when I got back from WI I was *so*
hungry. I had a pack of 2pt twists, 1/2 of a 2pt bar, a 1/2 cup of raisin
bran cereal dry (2pts?) and a 'light' pear fruit cup (2pts). That was a

7pt
snack! So now I am up to 21pts and I still need dinner. For dinner I had 2
fat free hotdogs on light buns (the buns are apparently 1pt each and the

hot
dogs are 1pt each too!) for 5pts (with ketchup) and then I had 2 fruit
popsicles (4pts total). TECHNICALLY I am still under my points for the day
(26 + 4 activity points) but I feel like a cow! Ugh! So frustrating!
On a positive note- at our meeting today our leader asked how many of

us
saw our goals as daunting. I, of course, raised my hand. He did put it

into
perspective for me though because he was saying to take it 5lbs at a time.
He said he doesn't think they should put goal weights on our stuff which I
agree with but I'll ignore it. I will focus on those next 5lbs or on my

10%.
Then I will pretend like I am starting over again with another 5lbs or
another 10%. It's hard to think that I will still be doing this 6months

from
now and it can be a bit overwhelming. However I have LOTS of reasons for
doing this. I have sort of found a new reason that I didn't think would be
as important to me as it has become but I have a friend who goes to school
far away and I won't see him much. I might see him at Christmas or
Thanksgiving but then not for a while after that and I really want to
surprise him. So I just keep thinking about that. And thinking about

seeing
everyone from my HS class' faces when I go to the yearbook signing party

at
Christmas. Hopefully by then I will be at what I weighed after my first
round of WW and they might NOTICE this time since most of them won't see

me
in between now and Christmas.

Sorry- rambling.

I was thinking my first goal was to simply stop gaining, then my second goal
was to stop gaining and not be hungry, Lee

Kara,

You're about at the weight I was when I started this last time. I was
at 225.

I'll echo what your leader told you. Work at not thinking about the
total amount you have to loose. Whenever I tried to wrap my brain
around potentially loosing 70 lbs, I ended up being discouraged.
Focus only on loosing your 10% - or if that's too much for you to
handle, set your mini-goal to be 5 lbs. Whatever amount you can
realistically "see" yourself accomplishing. I never in a million
years dreamed that I could reach my goal of loosing 70 lbs. It was
too much, and I had failed too many times. When I finally learned how
to break it down into small achievable goals, I did much better. Once
I lost my first 10%, I recalculated and set the next 10% as my goal.
I also set a (realistic) time limit for the goal, ie., loose the next
10 lbs by Christmas. That helped me focus each week on making better
food choices. I didn't always achieve each goal on time, but I
usually came close.

As far as you thinking about doing it for the next 6 mos - it took me
right at a year to loose all my weight. It IS daunting, and
depressing, and frustrating. However, once I finally got it through
my thick skull that I was making life changes, not just temporary
changes to get some of the weight off, then it all sort of became ok.
I figured out about halfway through that I have to eat this way for
the rest of my life. I will ALWAYS have to watch what I eat, and more
importantly how much I eat. That thought used to really **** me off.
Once I got over feeling like some great cosmic injustice had been
perpetrated upon me because I can't sit down in front of the t.v. and
eat a whole bag of chips, then it all sort of clicked into place.

Just keep working at it, slow and steady. You'll have ups and you'll
have downs, don't let the downs discourage you too much. That's what
I like about WW - you can blow it one day, but get right back on track
the next.

Congrats, and keep it up.
