Default Alton Brown was on FoodTV about his diet

Back in January there was a discussion here about Alton Brown having
lost 50 lbs in 6 months on a diet. He was on a new Good Eats episode
last week that focused on the diet. They were hinting at a new book
he's coming out with about it. Maybe that explains why he looked so
terrible on Iron Chef at the white house. He lost a drastic amount of
weight in a short time so he could write the book. He looked a lot
better in the new video, maybe because he put back on some weight
after reaching the 50 lb benchmark.

I'm sure you can find info about the diet at FoodTV. Some of the
basics were he eliminated almost all refined carbs and starchy
vegetables. He did eat pasta and whole grain rice once a week. He
also only ate red meat once a week, used healthy oils, and had oily
fish several times a week. He did eat fruit freely. At least that's
what I remember about it. It was definitely a much reduced carb diet
compared to what the typical person eats.

Was there a second episode about his new eating method? I watched the
first one. My Tivo recorded an episode with the same title a couple
of days ago but marked it as a repeat. I'll double check the original
airing date.

There's sense in doing one higher carb day per week though it works even
better if it's every other week. Body builders do that. I tend to
think it's more work than it's worth but it is definitely effective at
resetting leptin and T3 levels.

It seemed like Sugarbusters or a mostly paleolithic based plan to me.
Lower carb but not low carb. If he managed the loss without being
constantly hungry then it was a good plan for him.

I have a Tivo too and only recorded the one episode and I don't know
of any other. When I said it was last week, I may have been wrong.
It was either late last week or earlier this week. Tivo is so cool.
It blows away my cable company, Cablevision, PVR in terms of
capability and ease of use. They use Scientific Atlanta's box and the
PVR is a real piece of junk. Everyone should try a Tivo.

Can Tivo be programmed to be low carb? Last week mine recorded a FoodTV
episode of "Challenge" that was an extreme wedding cake contest. ;^) It
also recorded a rerun of "Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen" so maybe it can be
done.

No kidding! I was checking in regularly until around the end of 2009...when
I reformatted all my PC and installed Windows 7. After that, I have been
slow to reload software.
