Default Funny incident at Dr's office today

I had a doctor's appointment today for something completely unrelated to
low-carb (a toenail fungus, yuck!). The nurse who weighed me and took my BP
and temperature was new. After doing these things, she was reading my chart
and got a puzzled look on her face. She looked up at me and asked, "Have
you had a bypass?"

My initial reaction was fear! What was she reading on my chart that made
her think that I needed a heart bypass?! I emphatically stated that I had
NOT had a heart bypass, and why would she think so? She said, "no, no, no!"
"I meant a *gastric* bypass!

I realized then how it must look to her on my chart, since as of this
weighing I've lost 46 pounds in 15 weeks (just under 4 months)! I laughed
and said, "No bypass surgery." "Atkins." She left the room muttering
under her breath. Heh.

My doc is a proponent of low-carb eating, and she was impressed today. I
had dropped another 7 pounds since my last visit on March 12th. She
calculated my BMI, and told me that it had gone from 35 in December to 28
today. I'm no longer in the "morbidly obese" or even "obese" ranges on the
charts for my 6'2-1/2' frame; I'm down into the just "overweight" BMI
category. Another 20 or 25 pounds and I'll be in the green! Incidentally,
she also checked my BG just to see how it was doing. It was 112
(non-fasting)!

:-)

Thanks for sharing your success story.

I'm down 23 lbs since Feb 23 and look a *bit* thinner, but no great change
yet in how people perceive me.

Can't wait to progress to a genuine body type change as you have done.

Thanks again for sharing, very inspiring!
Mike

Right on Peter! I love it when we "surprise" the medical type folk. You
story completely reminded me of a trip to the doctor (not my current GP),
she was taking my blood pressure, pumping away and she got this really
confused look on her face as she was looking at the numbers. She released
the pressure and proceeded to start pumping away again. I was getting
nervous at her reaction because I've always had good BP, so finally I asked
what the heck is wrong. As she looked at the numbers again bewildered, she
said, "nothing actually your BP is really good, 110/70."
I could of smacked her. 110/70 is my usual blood pressure numbers.

Great? That's absolutely sad that a medical professional would automatically
assume that someone who has lost a lot of weight had to do it through a
bypass!!!

:: Your success has always AMAZED me, Peter!

Now that part IS wonderful!

Priscilla, you're talking to an anti-low-carb troll. Just a heads up.
