A while back I looked at a link that Ravengal posted, to some before & after
pics from gastric bypass patients

There's quite a few who don't look as though they were at least 100lbs
overweight or who would be "morbidly obese" as far as I can tell.

I guess some referring GPs are a bit more liberal than others.

After reading a couple of the diaries from people on the site, I realised
that after the surgery you're on a form of low carb diet anyway, as you can
eat such tiny amounts of food at a time you need to eat high protein.

Personally, it looks like a miserable existence- you couldn't even have a
decent swig of water or a whole cup of coffee!
