Middle-aged fat lady in her underwear

Default Middle-aged fat lady in her underwear

My latest pics are up. I got brave and went for the bikini shots. At
least I feel comfortable that no-one is downloading these as internet porn!

A few words: the bulging abdomen in the side-view has a lot to do with
separated abdominal bands damaged in the c-section. Apparently this is
only really correctable with surgery. It's not a financial priority for
me so I'll just have a bulging tummy. There's also a fair amount of
excess skin associated with having lost 75 pounds and it mostly lands on
my lower abs because of gravity. It also shows up as thick puckered
skin on my thighs and a bit of an apron over my knees. All I can say is
there's mercy in the fact that I'm usually dressed. I look perfectly
fine in clothes.

As for the rear shot... well... it's slowly retracting. Very slowly.
But it *is* getting better. I've gotten to the point in my weight loss
where it comes from my butt and upper thighs; sort of the Holy Grail of
fat loss for a pear-shaped woman. I'm between 25 and 26% body fat and
the excess is all stored at the top of my thighs or in my butt. I think
this just makes me a normal woman at this point. I'm not aiming to be a
fitness model, but I do dream of someday hitting 23%.

It's fun noting the difference between weeks 117 and 16. What a
difference 100 weeks makes!

My regimen is weight-lifting three times a week and doing some sort of
cardio three times a week and eating a diet roughly balanced in
macronutrients that is vaguely like the Zone Diet or the South Beach
Diet or the Glycemic Index Diet... in other words, I cut out junk carbs
and try to make my fats come from seeds or nuts or fish.

My regimen is designed to be long-term sustainable - not a diet, but a
new way of life. As I've been doing it consistantly for 27 months I
think I might be on to something.

You're looking great, Dally! I'm sure you'll get to where you want to be
with all the work you've put into your diet and exercise. I especailly
admire your ability to stick with the exercise. My exercise seems to come
and go with the seasons. I'm in one of the off-seasosng

Maybe you need to pick up a new sport? I'm giving swimming a try this
winter. I figure I'm going to have to move my body in deliberate and
intense ways on a daily basis for the rest of my life. I may as well
find a sport I enjoy. You've already found one [biking] so I have every
reason to believe you can find others!

Consider Jenn's fun with volleyball and Julianne's tennis and Martha's
skiing and Barbara's skating... there are a million ways to have fun
actively. Maybe you could take your daughter rollerblading at an indoor
rink? It's be fun for both of you.

I consider exercise to be 'maintenance for owners of human bodies.'
It's rather on par with flossing my teeth: just something I've got to do
if I want to keep it (my body) or them (my teeth.) For me it was harder
to integrate the "eat less" part than the "exercise more" part. I
*like* moving my body. Sadly, I also like eating!
