Oh, I remember now. Sorry, you have told me that before. Yes, I'm
still in Timaru, for now anyway. I'm applying to study in Dunedin next
year so if I get in I'm not sure when we'll be moving. It will depend
on how long it takes to sell the house.

What are you going to study in Dunedin? I went to T.Coll and Uni there.

I'm applying to the Otago Polytech to do the Bachelor of Midwifery.

If I'm still here, maybe we
could get together for coffee or something. I love the drive to
Fairlie.

That would be awesome. I think I remember that your son is the same age as
mine (he is 20.5 months now). Maybe they could play. I know that my son is
going to be dying for playmates!

My son is the exact same age. Born Jan 14 2002. He loves meeting new
kids, as does his Mummy ;-)

Cool. He'll love it. I hope we can put on some nice weather for him.

Sounds good! He absolutely loves NZ, and we would ideally like to move back
before my son starts school. Not sure if that will happen though, as we only
have about 3 years, and a lot to do in those 3 years!

This is a good place for kids to go to school, although they're
cutting the schools in this area from 36 to 16. That's a lot of
schools that have to close :-( Good luck getting back.

How exciting, Erin! When will you know if you can start?

Wow, that is exciting! Good luck with your application.

Thanks. I just have to get one more piece of paper signed by a JP and
I can drop it in the post. I had to write an essay as part of the
application, and I'll tell you, it was the hardest essay I've ever
written. Now onto the long and agonising wait to see if I get in.

My son was born on the 9th. I have to tell you about the "oh my goodness this
is a small world" moment that I had today. I was going through my son's cards
etc from when he was born. My parents had put his birth notice in the Timaru
Herald, and I happened to notice that your son's birth notice was right above
mine! Too weird!

Wow, I'll have to go and take a look now. That's so cool :-)

That is very disappointing to hear about the schools. I hope that the overall
quality of the education is not diminshed, though it will be hard for it not to
be.

Hopefully they'll leave the best schools open and the influence might
rub off on the kids from the not so good schools. I can live in hope
;-)

They said everyone should know by early November. There is a lot of
competition for spaces though so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too
much. Although, that said, I really do hope I get in. I've wanted to
be a midwife since I was in high school.
