The Idiot Proof Diet
There is a dude who sells a diet program (the ‘idiot proof diet’) which seems to rely on shocking the system (like swimming pool maintenance,) by having a couple of Carb rich days, followed by a couple of Protein rich days, then a couple of Fat rich days. I have the usual skepticism about diets for sale, but in case he is onto something I'm going to try his method (not his diet.) Instead of adding Carbs, Protein and Fat, I'll substitute one for the other. But since I'm on such a low calorie count anyway the results may be inconclusive, in terms of weight loss. Currently I only lose 0.26 lbs a day, so I'll see if the shock method increases that. If the results are significant I'll publish here but stop the test, because I don't want to speed up my weight loss - concentrating on other things and I want it slow. Should be interesting for those in a hurry to lose weight. Anybody on the diet? Today I confirmed an interim goal of 175 lbs so it's a diet holiday for me. Plan on a steak tonight. Started out with a slice of white bread and jam for breakfast and did a double take when I saw it was less calories than the 7 grain stuff I usually eat (in moderation.) Started at 200, quick fast down to 190 then under 1200 cals max to date. Usually about 700 cals a day well balanced. No sign of reduced metabolism or malnutrition and never hungry. I know it’s dangerous, so I watch it carefully. Some days I have to drink some fruit type smoothies to get the calories up. I know this is unusually low intake and with such little exercise (20 minutes pumping iron,) but it is having an good result on my health and energy. And it has been effortless, in terms of stress and pain. Only 10 lbs to go then it’s on to a 1500 cal maintenance routine. Right now I can’t imagine eating that much food. I keep a 5 lb dumbell on my desk so I can pick it up occasionally and know I was carrying around 5 times that weight a while back. Mal |
