Default Balance,Does anyone have balance problems from excessive Belly apron

I am looking for a reason for a bad balance problem. I work 32 hours a
week as a cashier and stand. I walk some in a big store and do pretty
good as long as I don't lean forward to far or pick anything up that
weighs more than 10 pounds. I do terrible on uneven ground. My belly
apron bounces around when I walk and I feel it is causing the problem .
Does anyone else have this problem?
I started out at 365, am female and only 5 foot one inch tall. My age
is 52. I have lost down to 210 by following weight watchers on my own.
Exercise is only the increased movement of work which i could not work
before the weight loss. I don't feel that I am getting dizzy just my
legs do what they want. Sometimes they feel like jello. I am stiff from
something else but the more I move the better I feel. My insurance
don't start till after the first of the year and I am waiting to go to
the doctor till after that as I don't want any preexisting conditions
to interfere with the change of them paying for tests etc.
I have went to my family doctor in the past and he says my body is
trying to find its center of gravity after the quick weight lose. I am
ot sure that is the problem. my belly apron seems to me to be flopping
around and throwing me off. Also i go regularly to a Chirpractor for i
have several problem areas in my back, plus a bad ankle due to an old
injury. He thinks maybe I just need to develope better muscles? I have
a exercise ball to sit on to try and strengthen my back. I stand for 8
hours a day plus I unpack boxes and push carts full of stuff throughout
the store,I am worried that I am going to get worse and not be able to
work or heaven forbide fall. i love my job and NEED to work.
It has been 2 yrs August since I started my weight lose journey and I
am stuck at 210. Also I have massive wings , droppy love handles and a
small amount of lose skin on my inner thighs. I wear a 1x now and used
to wear a 5 or 6 x and sometimes that didn't fit! Girdles don't work as
they slide down from the weight of my belly and are uncomfortable.
Luckily I don't get sore under my apron even though it hangs down a
good 8 or 9 inches and is very heavy yet. Any imput would be apprciated
as I am feeling very alone and it is getting to me. Thanks in advance.

Candy,

I can't say I'm in your situation, but it sounds like it would be quite
difficult to cope with. I really think your doctor is the best person
to speak to - perhaps you are having trouble with your ears?

If you are determined to hold out until you get insurance, perhaps you
could try Yoga - the class offered at my gym had some great exercises
to help improve balance. As I'm not a super bendy person, and prone to
clumsiness I found these exercises to be really beneficial. If your
gym doesn't offer a program, perhaps you can find a video.

K.

Kakou, Thank you for your input. I have had my ears checked and that
isn't the problem. Yoga seems like it is worth a try. I need to buy a
tape though as with work I don't have much time for scheduling a class,
if they have them. I still have a horrible balance problem on uneven
ground but at work seem to do fair. I have missed 2 Chiropractor
appointments and my legs don't feel like jello anymore? Maybe i am
going to the wrong Chropractor or too often? It is so hard to know what
to do. Again ,thanks for an answer to my post. I am at a standstill
weight loss wise and it is hard not to get discouraged. I have lost 140
pounds and can't seem to get under that. I am only 5 foot 1 inch tall
and still weigh in at 210 so i should be able to lose more. I have
tried redoing my eating and having less points and moving more but am
still going no where!

I had trouble with Tai Chi at first with the one-legged stands and I know I
have long had a balance problem. But the longer I stuck with it, the easier
it got.
