Default Yesterdays Panorama (UK)

Anyone else see the Panorama program last night, about sugar?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...ma/3713508.stm

Scary stuff - and I don't mean the nature of the Sugar Industry (hell,
we all know money and capitalism are more important that lives don't
we?) and their bent ways - no, the scariest thing by far was all those
mums of young kids prepared to buy a product called "Fit and Fruity"
just because of the name, despite the fact that the Nurition info on the
label stated 26g of sugar per 100g.

I mean please... some people need to grow a f*cking brain...

I would not worry too much that "Succorso" is going to be prosecuted
for harshly expressed opinions, but yes, they tend to have a lot of
money and do go after public figures. Here in the US, we had an "Oprah
lawsuit", where a famous TV personality was sued for holding a program
disparaging beef. What an outrage.

I once started bidding on a car at a car auction. Just then, two
*enormous* guys walked up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder and said,
in very deep voices, "You *really* don't wanna buy that car... if you get
my meaning." and "It would be best for your health if you stop bidding now
mate".

According to last nights programme, someone from the WHO had a similar
encounter with a "representative" from the food industry after he started
asking questions about limiting daily intake of sugar. He was later fired.
Strange that...

I was shocked at the Mother of that poor little girl, saying she didn't want
her to lose weight but just grow into it and the kid was still begging for
food all round the kitchen. There appeared to have been no attempt to
educate her at all even though the Mum said the girl wanted to be slim to
stop being bullied.
