Default Bachelor Chow 1 Sirloin burgers and vegies.

Being pressed for time (or simply lazy) is the mother of invention. I will
be presenting a few easy dishes to make on a LC diet that takes little time
and little clean up.

The first thing in common with these recipes is an ideal microwave pot.
Safeway sells a 1 L Pyrex measuring cup. This is ideal since it can
measure, holds a liter, and has a handle!
By placing a bit of saran wrap over the top you can steam and prevent
splatters, and the dish cleans up easily.
Second, get a membership to a Local Costco or equivalent.
You can buy bulk plastic forks, which are great for avoiding washing dishes
at the expense of the environment!

Recipe:

2 Frozen sirloin Patties from Costco (or whatever)
1 cup frozen mixed veggies (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots)
1 Oz cheddar cheese.
Whatever spices you like

Place the sirloin burgers in your microwave dish, sprinkle with spices and
cover with saran wrap. Nuke until nearly done.
Add the mixed veggies on to of the cooked burgers, place the saran wrap back
on and steam the veggies for a few min until done.
Place the cheddar cheese on top of the mass of food and nuke until melted.
Have at it with a plastic fork! The handle makes it great for holding on to
while lounging on the couch, bypassing the need to set the table. Reheats
great.

Gack! How much effort is washing a fork? ;-)

Place the sirloin burgers in your microwave dish, sprinkle with spices and
cover with saran wrap. Nuke until nearly done.

Just a word of caution: plastic wrap in the microwave is ok as long as
it is not *touching* your food. When it gets nice and hot, how to say
this.... non-nutritional chemicals from it leach into your food.

Check this out:
http://lists.laplaza.org/pipermail/a...st/003050.html

Especially interesting is this from that page:
"Claire tested four different plastic wraps and
"found not just the carcinogens but also xenoestrogen was migrating
[into the oil]...." Xenoestrogens are linked to low sperm counts in
men and to breast cancer in women"

So you might be REALLY ensuring your bachelor status in an unintended
way. ;-)

A small plate on top maybe?

More on Saran Wrap, from the highest of the high, their own page:

http://www.saran.ca/saran_questions.asp

"Can Saran™ Plastic Wraps be used in the microwave?
Yes. Saran™ Wraps can be used in the microwave. We recommend Saran™
Classic for microwave use. You should allow a 1-inch space between the
food and the plastic wrap. It is important that you vent excess steam
by turning back one corner of the wrap."

1-inch space is the important bit :-) Notice they don't say why. Hmmm.

LOL!
Actually, I stole the bachelor part from FutureRama, which is my fiancé's
favorite cartoon show after the Simpsons.

A small plate on top maybe?

Ack... then I would have to wash it! :-)
