... Sometimes, relatively rarely, I have an extreme comuplsion to buy something that, intellectually, I know that I do not need. So, it happens, just not very often. For example, right now, I really want to buy a rifle scope with a mil dot reticle, even though, practically speaking, I do not need one. lol As for myself, I do have a thing for electronical gizmos. Not because I need them, but just because I marvel at how they work and all. This reminds me that this is also described in anorexics; they tend to collect a lot of small items and "hide" them. Maybe as a kind of substitute for the food they're not eating. Rats also do that in response to stress. So it's a pattern common to other mammals too. |

Well, losing 120 lbs. has turned me into a compulsive clothes shopper :-). I can't say I've ever been a compulsive food shopper -- or ever much enjoyed food shopping. I may have been an impulsive food shopper, but that's a different thing. Chris 262/141/ (145-150) |

I hear you! *Can I get out of the store without crackers today?* (most of the time, I can s) I love shopping for food, especially at good stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I love it at TJs when they ask at the checkout "did you find everything OK?" Uh, yeah, duh... I also always manage to buy more than I planned at Farmers' Markets. I have to really control myself before I spend a lot, and I can. Martha |
