Default The First Couple of Days on South Beach Phase 1

I am on the South Beach diet Phase 1 for the second day. I feel like a giant
slug. I went to bed at 10 last night and slept until 12 today. I'm eating
the 6 required meals. I don't feel hungry, just tired. Is this normal?
When does my energy return?? Has anyone experienced this?

I didn't count my carbs, I just ate what was on the list. Similar to the
meal plans in the book.

There could be several reasons for this - caloric intake is much lower than
your usual level, caffeine intake is lower, carb intake is low, etc. Give
it a few more days and see if your energy level increases. Are you taking
any vitamin supplements with the diet?

It's normal for some people and it's discussed in the book. If I go to
phase 1 it takes about a day to feel right but I have friends that go
through 3-4 days of lethargy and headaches.

I'm feeling better tonight, much better that I did this morning and early
afternoon. My husband gave me B-12 which I will continue to take, and a
multivitamin. You are probably right on the caloric and carb intake. Just
got back from a trip full of those kind of goodies.

Glad you're feeling better. There's nothing more discouraging than to set
out on a healthier way of life and have it make you feel worseg
