Default Chickpeas in Phase 1 (South Beach?)

Hello all,

I'm subcribed to the Daily-Dish Newsletter of the South Beach diet, and I
recieve one email saying the chickpeas is permitted in Phase 1 of the South
beach diet...I for one love chick peas, But isn't it high in carbs - the
fiber?

How is it permitted in Phase 1?

Jazz

I have no idea how South Beach works or what's allowed but chickpeas are
pretty high in carbs IMO.
According to the USDA database 1/2 cup cooked is 16.5 g carbs after you
subtract the fiber.

SB isn't totally about eliminating carbs--and ketosis is not the
stated goal.
