they're concerned with *weight* loss, and i don't think it matters much
whether it's fat or healthy muscle. you're trying to apply logic to an
eating disorder - they don't really work that way.

I was thinking the same thing. If a person is fixated with a number on the
scale in an unhealthy way, they won't care how they get to that number, they
just want to *get* there.

exactly.

I'm not trying to apply any logic to an eating disorder....I referring to
the comment that Cubit made in regards to coming out ahead on weight loss
due to the consumption of SAs. I don't believe that happens in any real
sense. The use of laxatives generally doesn't result in any fat loss. In
the case of bulimics, they don't purge food via laxative use (afaik), though
they may purge liquid and ****.

Again, I was, and am, attempting to set the record straight about fat loss
via laxatives, in regards to Cubit's comment. You're talking about what
people with disorders do. They may indeed attempt to purge, but they aren't
losing any fat, and they certainly don't come out ahead. They are not
****ting out what they ate, so if they overate, it's still going to
negatively affect their weight. Obviously, taking a laxative will induce
****ting, but it wont' do much for the fat that people carry around.

Extra exercise in response to eating too much is generally not a bad thing.
I don't consider that a purge, either.

Well, I'm glad you didn't end up suffering some more, but what were
you thinking? Is the cheesecake *that* good?

Enquiring minds and all that...

I reviewed this on the internet. There seems to be a big push to tell
anorexics that using laxatives is ineffective in losing weight. I feel the
people saying this are the same people that insist you need lots of carbs to
be balanced. Medical people do lie to manipulate patients.

If you consider that laxative addicts are typically rail thin anorexics, the
truth may be that laxatives do significantly reduce caloric absorption.

The following is from a webpage:
"In one experiment, a group of laxative abusers ate a high calorie meal. A
group of normal people ate the same food, which totaled several thousand
calories. The laxative abusers took their purgatives of choice. The normal
people let nature take its course. Researchers collected all the material
passed in bowel movements and tested it for calorie content. Even after
consuming thousands of calories and massive amounts of laxatives, the
laxative abusers managed to remove only about 100 extra calories from their
bodies, the amount found in one small cookie. "

The study is not identified. If they didn't just make all this up, I'm
wondering if low calorie meals would have different results.
