Default April Challenge Update.....

I know Carol Ann is unable to run the challenge board this month, due to the
challenges of motherhood. (And many of us KNOW what that entails!!) But I
thought it would be nice to share how we're all doing on the newsgroup at
least. So my numbers are below.

Hope you've all had a good month!

Default April Challenge Update.....

April Start 350/311/200
April Goal 299, 12 lbs total.
So far I'm 302, 9! lbs down for April

I'm way ahead. I had expected my loss to gradually slow to 12 lbs for
the month and instead it has increased. I had two weeks of high
calories (food experiments with cabbage) and now that I've taken the
cabbage out my appetite & calories plunged(1572 cal average). I'm also
increasing carbs 10 grams in two week intervals. I'm in my 2nd week of
50 carbs. 5 grams every two weeks just felt too slow. I find two weeks
at each level is a better indicator of how I'm handling each level.

Some graphs tracking my loss so far... (i'm a numbers geek)

Very slow for me this month, I've lost one pound, and I'm not sure
about that one!

As I have learned to expect, any large drop is followed by a weight
gain. Yesterday I gained two pounds. Obviously water weight since I
only ate 1950 calories. but I've been waiting for the bounce up.
Regardless of the calories eaten, the body definitely has a certain
rate of loss it is willing to endure before it fights back.

I like your GIFs.

I maintain all my data in Excel-they are all from there. It works for
me and I can play with the numbers to looks for interesting trends
much more than in another program. Although I've been tempted to use
fitday.

Although I've been on program my 2 weigh ins for April I've stayed the
same. I'm hoping for a loss when I weigh again Saturday.

I think you're oversimplying this a bit. I too have noticed exactly what
you're speaking of. If fact, it typically happens everytime I drop in
weight. However, there are things that I know I can do to prevent the
bounce -- but I seldom want to do those things. For example, I could take a
really long bike ride, or exercise really hard and long, and I can avoid the
bounce. But why do those things simply for the sake of what the scale says?
They just stress the body, while the fluctuations in weight are normal. And
the fat is gone, so the differences in weight have to do with some kind of
retention, and I don't believe the body is fighting to maintain a scale
weight. After a while, the body finally locks in on a weight, but by this
time it is likely that you've already gone under it, you just don't see it
because of some kind of retention.
