Default Can Atkins/Low Carb cause neck pains?

Hi all,

Recently I have been having bad neck pains and low lying
headaches. The best way to describe them is its as if there was a
chord stretched from the lower part of my skull down to my upper back,
and it hurts along the whole line. There is also a headache
associated with the bottom part of the back of my head. I noticed
these began last summer, coincidentally around the same time I tried
atkins for the first time. They lasted throughout all of the fall and
left me around december, also around the time I stopped the atkins
lifestyle. At the time I never associated the two. Now though, I
started atkins for about a week and I am quickly remembering the pain
that I had last fall. I am wondering if anyone has any idea if the
two could be related, or is it just some strange coincidence? Is it
possible that there is a certain supplement that I am lacking, or
something I'm ingesting that could be causing this kind of problem?
Has anyone read anything like this before, or know where I could find
information on this?

Thank you in advance,

James

I am not sure of the answer of your question, but will tell you I have had
some neck into back discomfort as well. I attributed it to loss of muscle
in that area, because I was running and not lifting. I started lifting and
working on that area and it seemed to have helped. I also play lots of
volleyball and used to play tennis for many years, which is lots of overhead
motions. I figured this attributed to the discomfort.

Not sure if you situation could be similar, but thought I would mention my
experience.

Default Can Atkins/Low Carb cause neck pains?

Count me in on this! I've had quite a bit over the past two years and I really
never could figure out what caused it. At times it's very frustrating as it's a
dull ache that just won't go away and it's right at the base of the skull. Mine
usually shows up on the right side.

If anyone knows what this could be, it sure would be interesting.

I know this might sound strange, but I have noticed that in the process of
limiting food intake we often also limit fluid intake.

Try this and see if it helps. Drink a big glass of water.

I discovered that for me when I am dehydrated I get a headache, even though
I don't feel thirsty. It certainly works for me. Try it, as I said, it
certainly can't hurt.

I had a lot of joint pain my first time around, including neck and back
pain. Looking back now I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I
always forgot to take vitamins, and didn't integrate much fresh produce into
my diet. I was very active at work, but didn't do any real exercise.

While I didn't have the head ache you mentioned, I thought it sounded
similar.
