Yes. I just love mouse animal dna my strawberries. And please add
some more of that good delicious bug dna to my vegetables. Mmm good.
And another serving of cow steroids in my milk and beef if you please.
And I absolutely demand more antibiotics in the chicken feed and fresh
farmed shrimp and salmon. What's a chemical feast without a little
cross species genetic frankenfood? Moonchild. We may eat it because
that is what is in our food chain now. But we don't have to like it.

hunger or
perceived hunger. The pangs come and go, so does that mean they aren't
real?

When I've fasted, the pangs which do, admittedly, come and go, are still
*distinctly* different from what people call "hunger". You're on a
purposeful fast. I am referring to normal circumstances, when the stomach
is empty, and people are not purposely fasting, but just giving their
stomach time to rest between meals. I'm not saying a person should wait
until they are ready to pass out and get an IV drip before they should eat.
I'm merely saying that empty-stomach hunger is different from "all the
other employees are eating donuts right now and I need to eat something too
now" hunger.

Even so, a person doesn't need to jump up right away at the very first
twinge of hunger. Unless one has special problems (like my diabetic friend
who needs to constantly regulate her blood sugar), there's really not an
emergency.

As far as I can tell, what you're referring to is just appetite, a desire to
eat simply because you like it. There is no hunger associated with that.
Many times, especially when I'm eating carbs, I want to eat, but there is no
hunger at all, just desire.

See, I know when I'm busting at the seams because I ate too much, but I'm
not always sure if my stomach is empty. If I eat in the morning, skip
lunch, and eat again at dinner time when I start to feel hungry, is that
what you mean?

I never got that impression since you never said anything remotely like
that.

Okay -- I wouldn't even call that hunger. For me, and there have been
plenty of times like this, there is just a desire to eat, which I refer to
as appetite. I want to eat, but I'm not hungry. I think most people, if
they are honest, can identify and distinguish "appetite" from hunger. Many
people don't bother because -- they enjoy eating and take pleasure from it.

No were near an emergency. I just fasted for over 36 hours. I'm sure I
could have gone another day without too much pain.

I would agree that "hunger", "hungry", etc have varied, colloquial usages.
