this can't be low-carb at all... Oops, I guess you're right. I guess the coconut and the honey sort of disqualify it. I can only blame it on the fact that I was on some weird posting spree last night. The recipe would not be the same without the toasted coconut, but the honey could be substituted for something low carb. -- Peace, Pen -- Pawbreakers - The Candy for Cats! http://www.pawbreakers.com "limegreen" wrote in message om... - Large leaf basil in the little tub from Trader Joes* - Peanuts - Limes, skin left on, cut into tiny dice - Fresh ginger, peeled, diced very small - Toasted coconut. Avaialbe at TJs untoasted, toasts in your over in 2 minutes. - Honey and water 1:1 ratio to form a drizzlable dressing that's not too sticky sweet It's a lot of work cutting everthing up, and the limes are kind of tricky, but when you wrap it all up in a big basil leaf and drizzle the honey dressing on it, it's just so worth it. This is an amazing appetizer and an interesting conversation piece. It activates a bunch of different taste sensations: bitter, sweet, salty, yummy. *crucial ingredient for 2 reasons: it's washed and the bigger leaves are perfect for wraps. |

In article ,
says... On Wed, 15 Sep 2004 07:36:07 -0400, "Ami" coughed and sputtered, and managed to choke out these words: LoL! I haven't had my morning coffee, and thought this was some kind of facial mask/pack or something until the end! I was thinking how cool it would be to have an aunt that made fancy homemade beauty treatments! i thought maybe it was an herbal wrap for the body, you know with towels and blankets, etc. we learned how to do them in massage school - this one seemed rather interesting. until, like you say, at the bottom i realized it's an appetizer. If there are any leftovers -- try it as a treatment and report back. :-) -- Visit my Iron Age Pages for technical and fun stuff (holiday specials, too)! http://pages.prodigy.net/feaudrey |

Do you have any ratio/measurements for peanuts, ginger, lime, coconut,
etc., or do you just "eye it"? What should predominate? Thanks! Laura A. B. I tend to go heavy on the coconut and equal parts everything else. I guess the beauty of it is you can customize it differently each time and figure out which way you like it best. I present it in a compartmentalized dish and let everyone build their own wraps. I suppose you could also pre-build the wraps and hold them together with a toothpick. Cheers!
