Default Summer Goals & update

After weeks of working 70hrs a week (w/ commute and lunch its more like
85hrs) I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Next week is
the last week of hell and we are finally done with our construction project
at work. Then its a matter of digging myself out of all the extra work
that has piled up.

School is out in 3 weeks here, which means that DS will be off to his
father's for most of the summer. This means my evenings will now be child
free, and I can spend more time biking and working out. Tonight i got on
the bike for a 15 mile ride and the first exercise in 3.5 weeks... and let
me tell you, I could tell it had been that long since I've exercise. My
legs just didn't have the energy. The pool is up to 80 which is almost
warm enough for me to go in... so I can get into swimming and water
aerobics too.

My knee is finally on the mend, but still painfull. Once things settle at
work, I'll be back to the doc for the next round of treatment. But I've
switch to wearing flats alot and not heels, as they walking I've been doing
at work in the heels was causing the pain to re-occur. The flats have
helped a great deal. The time off from all worksouts (including PT)has also
helped. I hope that by the end of the summer I can try running again.

So, now its time to focus on my summer goals. After a slight gain before
the wedding, and another slight gain after i returned, my weight is back to
its normal range of the low 130's with a bodyfat of about 22%. I've been
in maintenance for over a year now, after dieting then going thru a bulking
phase where I still lost inches but gained lbs. Its time for me to go
another round of weight loss. My focus will be on muscle retention (of
coursse) but my goal will be to get down to 120 and maybe 115. See how that
looks and feels and then see how difficult it is to maintain at that weight.
We'll see, I may get down there and find maintenence is too hard for my
lifestyle.

Note, I realize that I don't have to lose weight. We'll see how it goes.

I feel exactly like you do - I just have a slight head start on the
biking... School is out here on the 27th, so DD will be gone most of the
summer. We have big plans for bike rides and backpacking, so formal
exercise seems to be a thing of the past. My stress eating is over with,
thank goodness! I have no idea what my bf% is, if my tanita is right I'm
about 25%. I'd like to drop a few points there too. I'm at 125-127 these
days, and I'm fairly happy there. But I'm sure I'd look better at 115-120.
Keep me posted, I'd like to see how you're doing as you get down there. I
made it to 117 last summer, but didn't stay there very long!

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm happy to hear you've switched to flats for the knee. It makes a big
difference. Years ago my old doctor told me he thought heels were invented
by a doctor who needed more patientsg I haven't worn them in years as
they aggravate my lower back.

I'm a shoe whore... :-) I LOVE my shoes. And I love heels because
I can actually see closer to eye to eye with the people I work with or
live with. The vertically challenged, like myself, rely on heels.

Did you forget who you were talking to I'm shorter than you and my
shoes take over my closet. I whittled it down to 60 some pair a few months
ago but it's growing again. I bought 3-4 pair on the trip with my sister.

I've got way too many outfits that just do not look right if worn with
flats. Dress Capri's especially.

Dressy sandals would look okay with the dress capris....

But now that we have 2 buildings to campus at work, the constant
running between buildings in heels gets to you. I keep a pair of
slipon sneakers at work with me.

The other day I went shopping and bought 2 new pair of flats/loafers
to wear with pants. It killed me to walk past all the cute shoes
because they all had heels.

But your back and knees will love you for it - especially when you get a
little olderG

I'm glad that you are seeing the end to the crunch time and I'm sure
that you'll do well with your goals. Thanks for the update!

Then you fully understand my plight. :-)

I need to clean my closet/shoe rack out and toss a bunch of
shoes/clothes that just aren't quite my style any longer.

Dressy sandals would look okay with the dress capris....

Dressy no/low healed sandles? They make those? I usually only find
casual on the low heel side and the dressy are the higher heels. mind
you, I only wear larger heels. I no longer wear the spikes or even
the tapered heels, as those really bother me. My shoes usually have
a good base (not too chunky they look funky though).

Go to www.zappos.com and do a search on flat dressy sandals. I found mine
at one of the higher end department stores in the area. Dress code at work
is casual so I own a lot of Clark's clogs or sandals to wear with jeans and
Dockers. Some of the clogs are dressy enough to wear with dressier slacks.

One pair I got the other day were airsole loafers. They are
FUUUUGLY... but when I put them on they were so comfortable I had to
buy them. Now I just ahve to convince myself to wear them.

I also bought some new pants, and have to hem them. Especially since
I am wearing flats. See, at least with heels, I can get away with
wearing the heels and not hemming, most of the time.

Being my height, I'm "in between" petite and regular. Petites can
look like highwaters, and regulars are always too long. Something
about forgettign the whole 5'3" - 5'6" range in women's clothing.

There would be a lot of nekkid people around here if jeans and sneakers
weren't allowedg I'm wearing jeans, short sleeved t-shirt and slides
today. Dockers is as about as dressy as I get! Anything dressier and you
feel out of place. Even the CEO's wear Dockers and shirts unless we're
having outside guests and then you'll see them in a sports jacket and
slacks.

Same here. Only the principal and supt wear ties. One of the middle school
teachers usually wears a shirt and tie with his jeans. Some women wear
skirts, mostly denim. I wear casual pants or jeans and relatively
inexpensive shirts because I never know when I'm going to be crawling under
desks and tables or getting toner all over me.

I do a lot of walking and standing - mostly around my classroom and it's
usually in stocking feet - or this time of year bare feet. The kids are
used to it.

My job varies all over the place. Yesterday I had a meeting with two
of our VPs and an outside vendor, and I wore a dressy pale yellow
skirted suit, yellow pumps, and a floral scarf. Today I just worked
in my office, and wore green & pink flowered cotton pants, a pink
stretchy short-sleeved scoop-neck t-shirt, and pink canvas sandals.

Ok - can we just declare me the shortest member of asd at 5 foot ZIP? (btw,
I wouldn't trade it for anything)

Any challengers? g
