"man made sugars"?? don't you mean something different? Corn syrup is not "man made" if it comes from corn, after all. Besides, different sugars have slightly different chemical constructions that make them more/less likely to affect people in a certain way. I guess you could call Honey a "bee made sugar"..... corn is manmade. it never existed in the wild. high fructose corn syrup is starting to show some bad health problems. -- Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. |

wrote in message ... Are the sugars that exist in fruits the same molecular make up as say man made sugars such as hugh fructose corn syrup, etc? Bottom line.... are natural sugars any better for you than man made sugars? The "natural sugars" you are speaking of occur in "natural" foods more sparingly than in processed foods. It's true that your body doesn't know the difference from a gram of carbs from a potato, apple, or candy bar, but to paraphrase him, it's a lot easier to eat three cookies than it is three apples. Here's the bottom line, as I see it. Your body depends on carbohydrates for fuel. Our wonderful and industrious government, in their research, figured that out. But what your body does is take any leftover carbs that you eat and store them in the form of fat for a rainy day. However, in the world today, not that many people have those rainy days, so we just store more carbs. Those of us on a low-carb lifestyle are forcing the rain. Latest reports state that some 60% of Americans are obese, and type II diabetes is on the increase. But there are no new real dietary guidelines provided to correct this situation. I'm encouiraged that I run into more and more people every day who have adopted the low-carb lifestyle. What's wonderful is that less than half are, by my judgement, overweight. Most have been somewhat over the scales, and want a healthier way of living. The message is still not getting out to too many people. I pray it does. |

No. Today's corn may have been carefully selected and grown to be what it is today, but it is not "manmade" by any stretch of the imagination. That's like saying all breeds of dogs today are "manmade". Pat in TX |

I don't think that's true. different foods effect us differently. our body does not see everything the same. scientists see us as just machines but we are far more then that. -- Knight-Toolworks & Custom Planes Custom made wooden planes at reasonable prices See http://www.knight-toolworks.com For prices and ordering instructions. |
