Liquid meal replacement?

I was just looking for suggestions for a good liquid meal replacement for those times that I am in a hurry and don't have time for any real preparation. Generally it would be a breakfast on the go. This might be from left field but: It would answer your need. I use a de-juicer machine. I make my own liquid drinks as I do 48 hour fasts each week end. My purpose is too give my digestive system a break for other health related reasons than a mere diet to cut calories. I also believe that a diet which is heavy on raw vegetables to be very healthful. But I tend to lose three to four pounds each time I Fast. Yet I supply my body with many vitamins and minerals within my vegetable/fruit drinks. I drink three glasses of juice each Fasting day and I do not have any hunger which is painful. I make my drinks from any and all vegetables and fruits. I limit my fruit to one piece of fruit each glass. I mainly use fruit to sweeten the taste of some of the more bitter tasting vegetables. But if one was to limit their vegetables to mild tasting ones one wouldn't have to deal with any bitter tastes at all. I would suggest a mix of raw juices from: celery carrots cucumbers squash Bell peppers These are all almost tasteless. I can also assure you that if you drink eight ounces of a drink made from those vegetables you will be not only giving yourself some real vitamins it will give you a boost you might not have felt in a long long time. with about seventy-five calories at the top. I drink only these juices when I Fast but I also have two glasses of these juices each day during my normal eating diet. I take the pulp from the vegetables and save them in a bowl and on the week end from my job I mix these up with some seasoning and make myself about a dozen veggie burgers seasoned the way I like them. I eat these burgers during the week when I eat three meals a day. I am also on a weight losing diet. I love the four pounds I lose each week end on the Fast and feel I am doing my body a good service by Fasting too. I have yet to feel hunger or weak from my Fasting. I think most of the hunger nightmares I had was from my thinking it would make me starved. But I did gradually enter into my Fasting. I started out doing six hour fasts. Then I did a eight hour one, and then a twelve etc.. until I got to the 48 hours. It worked. I told you all this to let you know that you can drink vegetable/fruit liquid meal supplements and not fear hunger and have the vitamins you might want in place of the solid foods you have missed eating. I did not mean to suggest that you go on a Fast. I am not a doctor and would not suggest any diet for anyone. Monte |

Liquid meal replacement?

I am asking for suggestions as to which liquid meal replacement is a good one to use. It can be either a powder needing water or milk on one that is already constituted. I have heard many disparaging remarks about Slim Fast because of the sugar content. I have tried the Atkins but it is expensive and does not taste very good. I will appreciate any comments or suggestions as to what others use that they feel is both healthy and has a decent taste. The most important factor must be that it is nutritious and not to high in calories. The taste as price are secondary importance. TIA for any suggestions. BTW, I plan to use this generally once a day as a meal replacement. I am not fat but I do have a few pounds that need to come off. Just realize that 300 calories worth of meal replacement drink = 300 calories of any solid food. Is you must have a meal replacement... If I am short on time and I need something quick, I mix a serving EAS protein poweder with a serving of skim milk. 200 calories, 30 grams of protein. You can get the EAS powder at Wal-mart pretty cheaply, and it actually tastes decent. Also, I sometimes just drink skim milk: yes it has some sugar, but it will fill you up and give you soem protein along with vitamin D, calcium, etc. good luck, AL |
