Hi, I'm a very private person, too. Going to the meetings is a great help in meeting people. I tend to be very shy around people I don't know. -- Take Care Catherine joined 5/20/98 Lifetime 6/2/99 154/136.6/136 Personal goal 126 "Prairie Roots" wrote in message ... Thanks Laura. This week I finally decided to join one of the local bicycling clubs by becoming a paid member. My Wednesday evening ride was with a different local club. That one seems to be a bit lower key, which is a nice change. There were only three of us on that ride, including the leader. Turns out that both of them belong to both bicycling groups. Wednesday night's leader was also Friday's leader; and the third person on Wednesday's ride also rode the "C" ride on Saturday. How fun to start recognizing people. On Saturday, the guy rode with me for part of the way and we enjoyed a nice chat. He's been a member for a number of years and when he saw me lagging behind a few times, he rode back to make sure I was OK. Among the reasons I'm doing the group rides is to meet people. Even if none of them become my best friends, just being around people and socializing is a major breakthrough for me. I'm more of a hermit than is healthy. Week 80 WI: 144.4 lbs Weight change since WI: -2.4 lbs Total weight change to date: -87.6 lbs Saturday's are getting busier and busier, leaving insufficient time to go through the morning's preparations for WI and checking in before I dash out the door for a bike ride or other activity. So this week, I changed my WI to Thursday. My WI on Thursday showed that I was down. I stuck pretty close to program and got in most of the exercise I planned. I worked out on my Pilates machine two times and went on four group bike rides--last Saturday 15 miles, Wednesday evening 22 miles, Friday evening 18 miles, yesterday 29 miles--and bike commuted 2 of the 4 days I went to work. I have to admit my energies and focus lately are more directed to activity than to food. I can feel my commitment to counting points and journaling starting to slip. I'm switching to the Core Plan this week because the more I read about it and study it, I think it's worth a try. It reminds me of how I used to eat when I was in OA many years ago: I stuck to whole foods, and avoided eating my trigger foods. The first few days of that were rough, but in the long run, after the cravings left, avoiding those foods altogether was so much easier and far less stressful than trying to control the amounts of those foods. Bye-bye skinny cows! (I know I can still eat these as long as I count the points.) I think I'll try some of the fruit dessert recipes on the WW Web site instead. Besides the Apple Chips recipe I posted earlier, I just found another yummy-sounding one that uses fresh strawberries as a pie crust, FFSF vanilla pudding made with evaporated skim milk instead of FF milk as the filling, and then topped with fresh strawberries and kiwi. EASY! And fancy enough to serve to dinner guests, who are arriving in about 3 hours! Gotta run! This is the best day of my life. -- Linda P week 80: 232/144.4/WW goal 145/personal goal ? next mini-goal: 143 started WW 22-Feb-2003 | 10% target: 1-May-2003 | WW goal: 24-Jul-2004 5'4" | 50 | F |
