Thanks Lee. Seeing the scale go up can be so discouraging. Maybe it's
age, but I'm so bored with having a tantrum every time the scale
reverses the trend. This week I decided to accept it as a natural part
of things, especially after a cold. In fact, this week I had a most
unusual experience: TOD (Time of the Decade). Spooked me enough to
make a doctor's appt.

If you just look at the stats for this week, you'd think I had a
terrible week. But actually, my weight this week is exactly where it
should be. Sure it's up but last week's 4.8 lb loss was the real fluke
when I had a terrible cold and hardly ate anything. This week, I'm
almost back to my normal self--at least I'm eating normally. I've
still got some lung congestion, so returning to returning to an
exercise regimen is going a bit slower. I'm down 2.6 lbs from where I
was 2 weeks ago before my cold.

Tomorrow is my 1-year anniversary of being on WW. Not only have I lost
71 lbs at an avg of 1.37 lbs per week, I've also lost 66 inches
overall. Here's an indication of some of the changes: I've lost 2-1/4"
from my neck; 10 inches from my bust; 10-1/2" from my waist; 8" from
my hips; 4" from each thigh. A year ago I was wearing size 22 or 2XL
tops and size 20 or 1XL pants. This year I'm wearing size 14 or L tops
and size 10 or M pants. Needless to say, I am deeply satisfied with my
results to date.

Thanks Fred. You said it: unbelievable (almost). Now you understand
why those voices in my head are having such a hard time. A woman at
work tells me I'm starting to look like a pencil. No One has EVER
compared my body shape to a pencil! I remember when I took my
measurements a year ago when I started. I was determined that this
time I was going to face the truth, no matter how awful. Now I'm glad
I made the effort. Seeing the change in inches is almost more
astounding than seeing the change in weight.

Thanks Joyce. Yes I have come a long way, and I still have a way to
go. Maybe this time next year I'll be a member of the lifetimers club
along with you, Lesanne, Fred, Julie, Wendy, and others. One day at a
time.

WOW, that is absolutely fantastic. It sure sounds like you have taken this weeks
gain into perspective and not let it get the best of you. As that old saying
goes, you've come a long way baby!!! Congrats again.

Thanks Nathalie. Sometimes a year can feel like an awfully long time
to be losing weight. And I'm not even done yet. But this day would
have come around on the calendar whether I'd been losing weight or
not. So I'm glad I was losing. Being 71 lbs lighter than I was a year
is still an amazing thought.

Those result are astounding. You are a real inspiration.

I know it's not a competition but you've lost about the same as me in
about half the time.

Well done

Thanks Ray. A few weeks ago I spent some time reading the WW forums
and came across some posts from a woman who's lost about 150 lbs in a
year and still losing. For a minute I felt very discouraged about my
own progress and how long it's taking for me and why can't I be more
like her and what's wrong with me and yada yada yada. After a while, I
remembered that I'm only doing this for myself. I'm doing what I'm
able to do. I'm OP more than I'm not. I enjoy holidays and vacations
and special occasions. I'm learning a whole new WOE. I'm adding
exercise and learning to enjoy it. I've come further this time than I
have any other time. This time I know it's permanent. Suddenly I was
GLAD I haven't lost as quickly as the woman on the WW boards. My
weight loss journey is all about me. Not about, or for, anyone else.
So I can have my chocolate peanut butter cookie dough skinny cow ice
cream and eat it too, while losing weight and getting healthy in my
own sweet time.

The same is true for you. You are getting where you want to be. We are
all becoming who we already are.

I never did measure but the clothes clearly show the loses.

Well, you did say you were an editor - so PENCIL is a fitting image.
Keep sharpening that image (G)

Happy anniversary PR Not only have you stuck with the program for a
whole year, you have a great weekly average, and an even better attitude to
the journey. You'll be a lifetimer before you know it!
