Default Oh great

Just spent my first couple of weeks on "Fit for Life".
Going really well - just suits me - lost a few pounds already.
Blood pressure really coming down nicely 115/70 this morning.

And then someone at work goes and says "You look very pale - are you sure
you're OK".

Aggggggggggh - don't you hate it when that happens??
Actually I feel a great deal better than normal.

I suppose that the first few weeks with a lot more fruit and veg would cause
a detox - so maybe that's why I'm a bit pale. But I am just pale by nature -
even doc says so.
I'm not anaemic, and blood tests are good.
Tongue is nice and pink but a bit coated, palms of hands and inside of mouth
and eyes look reasonably pink. That's enough detail!

Being male I don't get the benefit of lipstick and make-up.
As yet we don't do that sort of thing in the UK.
Anyone else like me?

Cheers
MB

I don't know how you looked before, but high blood pressure can result in a
flushed or ruddy complexion. Appearing pale, in comparison, might be a GOOD
thing.

I had some such comments from my obese mother in law.

I politely tried to ignore her message.

That said, whenever someone tells me something like this, I try to
check if there is a grain of truth to what they say...

What is your diet like? Do you exercise? How much are you losing and
what is your current weight and height?

i

I'm following a diet plan called "fit for life"
Hey - I know some say food combining is nonsense but it suits me.

So my diet is mainly fruit/veg beans and wholewheat pasta/bread - not much
meat/fish.
Current weight is 215 pounds come down in the last fortnight from 220.
Exercise is the gym when I bother to go.
I'm thinking of getting a rebounder.

But like I said I've always been pale.
So I don't worry about being a bit pale - well not too much!
I'm reluctanct to take iron supplements - but when I do it doesn't seem to
change much.
I also take some sublingual B12

Regards
Martin

Depending on how mean you want to be, you could reply with something
like "No, I have insert fatal disease here, but thanks for asking!".

Aggggggggggh - don't you hate it when that happens??

I have some idea of what you mean. I came down with pneumonia last
month, and several people whispered "is it because of the diet"? Sheesh!
It's not like I'm starving to death.

Heck, some people are pale. Doesn't mean they're ill.

Being male I don't get the benefit of lipstick and make-up.

Not all women wear that stuff either. :-)

As yet we don't do that sort of thing in the UK.
Anyone else like me?

Not exactly, but I can commiserate...

I had that happen when I was dieting also, everything from a hangnail to a
cold was blamed on "the diet."

Crazy, isn't it? It's almost like they don't want us to suceed. I guess
the upshot is that you can't please anyone but yourself. *I* know I'm
much healthier now and will continue to feel better as the pounds come
off, regardless of what other people say...

You might check at a large department store for a "bronzer" which I
understand is an acceptable way for a man to put a little color on his face.
Also, there are sunless tanning products out there that will give a bit of
color. Just make sure you don't over-do it or it will look terribly fake. I
don't think it is a bad thing for men to enhance their appearance a bit with
a little blush as long as it doesn't look obvious.

Heck, I used to know a guy who wore pancake makup and eyeliner every day to
work (no it wasn't Michael Jackson) and he wasn't an actor either. (He
worked in a candle shop, actually).
