New No Carb Sweetener on the Market......
........something called "Swerve"........anyone have any experience with it?
A lady from a new local organic cafe type place. They specialize in protein smoothies, they sell products and they are a restaurant....anyways, she passed around samples of this new product and it really tasted good I thought. Pricy, a lb bag is about $13. but for herbal tea I think it would be great. But as always, any new products on the market, I am leery about. Carol J |

Most of their claims sound similar to xylitol (beneficial bacteria, all natural from plant sources). There are quite a few websites about it. Googling Zeratol, their trademarked product brand, came up with nothing. This is the first I've heard of it. Kinda pricy (I pay half again as much for a 5# bucket of xylitol - and get a great bucket in the bargain G) but if it's 0g carbs it might be worth it for some things? I'd try it...especially if their claim of no intestinal discomfort is true... -- Sherry lowcarb.owly.net |

New No Carb Sweetener on the Market......
Several folks from my local support group went to her cafe/shop today and
purchased it so I think I'll do the same next week. I've noticed lately that my sugar free candies are giving me a lot of GI upset which they didn't do before so it's worth a try..........thanks:-) Carol J "UsenetID" wrote in message ... I have some, but I have found it to be really bitter if I put too much of it in something. My oldest son wanted something sweet on his oatmeal and we were out of honey. So, I put some on it, but got too much. It was awful. So far, I have only really tried it in my red tea. |

New No Carb Sweetener on the Market......
I haven't used it at all, I use stevia to sweeten my herbal tea and
sometimes I'll sprinkle it over a sliced peach or apple and nuke that for a warm dessert.......this swerve product is supposed to measure spoon for spoon like regular sugar though, which I liked the idea of. She said in our meeting that Whole Foods and Wild Oats will have this product on their shelves in about 6 months, they have already picked up the option to carry it apparently. Which if I like it will be great, I hate driving downtown for anything, not sure I'd go just to pick up a bag of this stuff........ Carol J "Ann in Houston" wrote in message ... I use it for everything and have found it to be the most like sugar of any of the SAs I've tried - although I haven't tried them all . I measure and use it just like sugar and, while it has a cool mouth feel in addition to the sweetness, I've never noticed any sort of bitterness like I do with stevia. The only thing is that we have quite a few pets and the AVMA warns that dogs can die from its effects...so anything with xylitol in it we're very careful not to drop or share...but other than that, I like it best and have found it to be the most like sugar. New No Carb Sweetener on the Market......
IMHO the best choice is the gray market sucralose liquid.
However: It is expensive, and carries a risk from being incredibly unnatural. "Carol J" wrote in message . .. .......something called "Swerve"........anyone have any experience with it? This new product has a cool mouth feel to it too, and that actually puts me
off of it a bit but not sure why......I guess cuz sugar doesn't do that so wondering if it's so natural, why would it cause that effect.........any opinions? Carol J "UsenetID" wrote in message ... Natural substances taste different than other natural substances is my guess. Don't know why a cool mouth feel would cause suspicion, just because sugar doesn't do it? Maybe I'm reading your post wrong...but I don't expect anything to taste exactly like sugar, except sugar. -- His, Shrinkin' Sherry lowcarb.owly.net |
