Veggies
"Chris Braun" wrote in message ... These sound like something I can really use. I just ordered some from the web, since I don't know if local stores carry them. Thanks! Chris Where on the web did you get them? I haven't done a search yet, but I'd be interested since none of my local stores carry them - I looked around today. Jenn |

I haven't used this site before, and since I just ordered today I can't comment on their service. But anyway, they sell the bags. http://www.safetycentral.com/everfreshbags.html Chris |

Veggies
On 9/27/2003 6:51 PM, Cat wrote: Because of my hectic life, I don't often take time to eat enough veggies. Today I bought celery, baby carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and sugar-snap peas and some ziploc baggies. I divided everything up into five bags. I'm going to eat one each day at work. Voila. Veggies. A friend of mine gave me a preparation tip for the baby carrots that you buy in stores. To keep them from being "slimy," wash them out at night and place them on a paper towel. Be sure the carrots are only in one layer. Leave over night. Package in bags for lunches the next morning. It helps me out a lot since I have an aversion to "slime." :-) |

The best way to store vegetables is without any bags. Just store them in the vegetable bin in your refrigerator, in a big pile. I buy more vegetables per week than will fit in both bins, and that's for a family of two. -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |

In the cooler weather, I keep them in a wire tray in a cupboard in the kitchen. janice 233/161/133 |

In the trashcan
I haven't bought a potato since June lol Seriously though. My mother stored them in one bottom bin of the fridge that was only used for that. Cabbage, maybe. No potatoes here (LC), except an occasional sweet potato. I've got cooking onions, bulb onions for salads, scallions, 3 colors of bell peppers, yellow summer squash, green beans, brocolli, cauliflower, asparagus, snow pea pods, celery, cucumbers, lettuce, radishes, mushrooms, carrots and tomatoes, bunches of parsley and cilantro, garlic, shallots and ginger root at the moment. They take up the bins and most of the bottom shelf. -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |

I never put potatoes in the fridge and they seem to
keep at least two weeks. What seems to cause problems is leaving them in the plastic bag. It doesn't wick moisture off and they seem to rot faster. I put them in brown paper bags and leave them in the kitchen. Not true, when I was a teenager we had a farm and a BIG
garden and we stored potatoes for months in the cellar. Put then on the floor, it is cooler near the floor. They would last longer in a cooler basement. i Chris |
