Okay, I've read this entire thread and have a few thoughts to toss out

there.

First, SenorBeef, after having read everything you've written, I've come

to the

conclusion that you do not really want to low-carb. You may want to lose

some

weight (more on that below), but you seem to turn to low carb in order to

get

through the odious process of losing weight as quickly as possible.

This is true. I couldn't maintain low carbing as a life style - with the
limited amount of low carb food I like, when I low carb for temporary
periods, eating becomes a chore - I simply don't have enough motivation or
caring to make eating a chore for the rest of my life.

Then maybe you need to consider a different approach. People can do
well using several diffent strategies to have a healthier way of eating
-- including weight loss and maintenance of said loss. What other
options have you considered?

And then
you want to go back to eating as you did before. It seems that eating as

you

did before is more important to you than anything else.

I don't want eating to be an unpleasant chore I have to go through, yes.
Over time, that really drags you down.

Again, whatever you decide to do needs to be a for the long haul. It
needs to be a way of eating/lifestyle change and not a d-i-e-t.

I figure I'll moderate my generally crappy diet a bit and work out more.

I understand. I'm not ignorant of the reasoning behind LC diets and I'm not
an idiot that thinks just losing it is the full battle. Circumstances will
be a bit different this time around, and I'll make more an effort to stay in
reasonable shape.
