Default Is dieting without (real) headache possible?

Hello Support Diet Member,
I have no problem with dieting ,my problem is the headaches I get when
I have an empty stomach. For instance, if I do not eat (but have only
hot drinks like tea or coffee or some infusion) I start to have a
headache at about 3 p.m. in the afternoon, due probably to an empty
stomach. Do you know of some way to stop the headache (by taking some
low calorie item , for instance) in such a case, APART FROM taking
some headache pills? The headache pills work but are bothersome if I
have to take them every day.
I shall be obliged if someone would let me know.
Regards,
Urban
PS My BMI is 27.

If you are getting headaches when you are hungry-eat some food. It
sounds like low blood glucose. Maybe you should divide your meals
into smaller more frequent ones meals.

Your problem is simple... EAT! Dieting shouldn't be about starving
yourself... that's bad for your body and will make maintenance tough
later.

Try eating small meals every 3-4 hours. Have some protein, some
veggies, some healthy fats. Maybe have water instead of tea or coffee
at least some of the time.

Hi Urban

You don't mention what you are eating, but don't starve yourself, or
you will end up feeling crappy, tired and deprived - never mind going
off the diet fast.

Make sure you eat breakfast, and make it something reasonable and
include some protein. Plan for some a snack mid morning and mid
afternoon like an apple or some low-fat yogurt. Eat some lunch - a
bowl of soup and some salad.

You are probably giving yourself headaches from low blood sugar. The
biggest single challenge of weight loss if figuring out that it took
you a while to gain it, so its going to take a while to lose it. Slow
and steady usually wins the race - and establishes the new habits you
will need to keep it off. This has to be about a lifestyle change that
will be forever, not a sprint after which you go back to the same
old.

Urban,

I have only just seen your post.

For a diet to work properly, you must not starve yourself. The body
quickly realises when a food shortage is happening, so it will slow
down the rate at which it burns calories. This means that the hoped-
for weight loss does not eventuate as quickly as desired. There are
“diets” (more like eating programmes) which enable fairly rapid weight
loss without side-effects such as headaches. These programmes insist
that you MUST eat. The one that I am on requires you to eat 4 times
per day. It does work. I lost 9˝ lbs in the first 2 weeks – safely. I
have just started my second 11-day cycle after the required 3 day
break eating normally. I am also able to choose up to 30 foods that I
want to eat – I am not forced to eat things that I do not like.

I hope that this helps.
