Assuming it is applicable to this group, post a sample (today's entry perhaps) here and include a link to additional content in the sig line as Bev suggests. But don't post if you don't intend to read and respond (if necessary) to the follow-ups. |

You haven't missed it. Ig told me about this NG after reading a post I made on rec.running. I think it had to do with a study on the variability of exercise benefits. I didn't see anything about an introduction post in the FAQ so I haven't made any attempt to write one. Also, I was not certain that I would continue following the posts in this group long term but what I have read so far has been interesting. It looks to me that a great group of supportive and knowledgeable people actively post here. As for personal introductions, I am a nearly 30 (next month) male. I am a never-married but am currently in a serious long-term relationship with a wonderful woman. I live in El Paso, Texas where I am employed as an accountant. My hobbies include hiking, cycling, gardening, cooking, and athletics. I was overweight/obese in elementary and middle school but the Almighty got my weight in check with a few growth spurts. Throughout high school and college I remained lean I think mostly due to the forced exercise from my work study position. Throughout those years I continued some bad eating habits that I am just beginning to change. I am currently 6' (1.8m) and 180 lbs (82 kg), a bit off my heaviest weight of 185 lbs. I am not by any means in the dangerously overfat category but I could stand to lose a few pounds of fat and gain a few pounds of muscle. I have a family history of diabetes, hypertension, overweight, and heart disease so my main fitness goal is to control the risk factors for these diseases. I look forward to reading more post especially from those on the list who have made great improvements in their fitness and hope that I can make similar gains. |
