But would the food stamps be worth more than his additional raise in
actual dollar amount???

yup it would.. we need to get taxes fixed we have too much taken out and
stop with the 401k and also convince the student loan people we are too
poor
to have his wages garnished.

How would you convince the the bank who loaned you/or your husband the money
for school, to not garnish his checks? There are ways to pay back student
loans without having your checks garnished. You can pay interest only for X
amount of years..etc. You *have* to pay back student loans. I don't get it.

You didn't see partial differential equations in high school.

Please explain what those are?

Pieces of derivatives stuck together in the same equation?

The best examples are second order physics equations like Laplace's equation
about elliptics.

Good lord!

http://www.sst.ph.ic.ac.uk/angus/Lec...ys/node24.html

While I see they have actual physical applications, it almost looks like
pure math for the sake of pure math! lol

Now that I'm actaully more interested in trying to understand this
stuff, I'll have to do more googling........

I used to have dreams about solving differential equations by parts,
now
it'll be nightmares.

Which part of "high school mathematics" did you not understand?

Hmmmmm.... I saw differential equations when I was in high school.
Are you teaching the classes for dummies? :-)

High school students used to have Calculus and Trig' available when I
went to High School! Has our school system been "dumbed down" that much
now? :-(

Yep. My kids had calculus and Trig. I have no idea how my 18yr old
graduated. She was awful at math---and didn't give a damn about it.

She might grow out of it...... :-)

What does she want to do for a living?

my point is that we KNOW we need to pay it back but cannot do so at this
time. Especialy at 60$ a pay check.. He brings home 578 ervery two weeks
right now.

What do _you_ bring in JC?
Teaching is not notorious for high pay which is why there are so few
good ones. I'd love to teach Junior High.

After 18 years, I only bring in $1,400 per paycheck after taxes every 2
weeks. I don't recommend Medical Technology as a degree.

For a BS, the starting pay sux.

Teaching doesn't pay too badly for the amount a person has to work.

I get 40K for 190 days. In El Paso, that's not too shabby. The starting
pay is not too much lower.

That's the advantage to living in Texas... ;-)

El Paso? You have my condolences! Last time I drove thru there, the air
was horrible with all the new factories going in over the Rio Grande
where the pollution is not regulated. :-( Thanks to NAFTA!

It WOULD be nice to have 3 months off in the summer!
But, that kind of pay nowadays is just not attracting very many people
IMHO... It's too bad as teachers are one of our more valuable resources.

They are NOT paid enough!

Sorry, OT but a personal soapbox!

LOT's of people would love to teach Junior High. All
by itself that explains why teachers aren't highly paid.
Supply and demand. There are plenty of people who will
do it for less money, therefore schools get away with
paying teachers under $100K.

I do NOT think teacher quality has fallen over the years.
More and more have better and better college educations.
I think the source of the problem is what the curiculum
has become. I was amazed at what was and wasn't in the
curiculum when my daughters went through school compared
to when I went through school.

After 18 years, I only bring in $1,400 per paycheck after taxes every 2

Schools also churn out far more of them than their are
jobs. That drives the price down. My younger daughter
went through that program after high school. What a
difference if she'd started towards LVN instead.

Purina has an active research program to determine the
actual nutritional requirements of each type of animal
they supply chow for. Animals like dogs they have a
chance to conduct life-span studies so they can even
get to ideal portions on a per-nutrient basis. Animals
like monkeys live too long to be able to do that so
they are formulated based on educated guesses that use
what data is available.

The chows are a compromise - 1) Deliver all of the
needed micro-nutrients in as close to the ideal mixture
as possible. 2) Deliver a mixture of macro-nutrients
that delivers the longest healthy lifespan for the least
money.

The stuff may smell nasty, but it's healthy per dollar.
The premium pet food companies do the same system
without minimizing dollars - all micro-nuts, best
macro-nuts for longest healthy lifespan. My brother is
a veterinarian and he stocks Nutro Max for sale to his
customers, but all the years he was in school our dogs
got basic Purina.

So what would Purina People Chow actually be? It would
have lots of vitamins and minerals. Plenty of protein.
Enough fat. Fill with cheap carbs. It would smell nasty.
What would Nuto Max for Humans actually be? It would
have lots of vitamins and minerals. Plenty of protein.
Enough fat in the correct mixture to include the various
omegas. Fill the calorie count with all slow carbs. It
would smell nasty.

The difference with humans is we can't conduct life-span
studies. We live too long and once it was learned that
some combination kills young (say the USDA food pyramid)
that group would have to be pulled out of the study. The
end result would be the discovery of some averaged
not-bad rather than some really good but obscure peak.
