Frequency of taking supplements
I take alot of vitamin and mineral supplements, but I'm on a budget and
need to stretch them out. What's the better choice, healthwise? A. Take a full dose of all supplements every other day. B. Take a half dose of all supplements every day. Thanks. |

B. Take a half dose of all supplements every day. B. Due to the water soluble nutrients. And get a second job, to afford more supplements. What are you? Lazy? David |

T wrote: Eat a normal diet and forego the supplements? This guy is one of those dorks who thinks because you get colored urine, that the vitamins don't do any good. Well he's a fool. Proof you ask? Ok. Take Glucosamine Chondroitin, and it will similarly color your urine, but you still get the full effects of the supplements within. Because you get discolored urine doesn't mean the supplement hasn't done its job. I believe the discoloration is the excess your body doesn't need, or the waste left over from your body processing it. whew This non-troll stuff is tough, back to normal mode. |

Better yet, eat a healthy diet and forego the supplements. Jeff |

Or maybe he knows that a nonnatural supplement is nowhere near as beneficial as it would be naturally occurring in the correct proportions in real food? mjoann |

And it's working. Eating with a 500 calorie deficit per day, being 45 y/o, and exercising alot, (cardio and weights) it's difficult or impossible for me to meet my nutritional requirements through food alone. Hence the reason I'm taking supplements. For those who take the position that supplements are unnecessary, that's your prerogative. Maybe I'll take that debate up with you in another thread sometime in then future and learn something. But for now I plan on continuing to take them. So I'd like to hear from the "pro supplement" crowd and see if there's a simple answer to my question. Which choice is the better one, A or B? Thanks. |

Eat fruits, vegetables and other stuff naturally containing them. Or grow themselves and freeze down what you do not eat daily Even in a balcony and windowsill you may grow lot of healthy vegetables Maybe if you grow them yourself, but realistically not many people can do that. Thru overfarming/soil erosion we have lost alot of nutrients in our agriculture so supplementing with daily vitamins is just covering all your nutritional needs IMHO. The OP mentions running a caloric deficit, stressing his body/exercising and being a proponent of vitamin supplementation, he didnt ask about foods, so no one really answered his question. I would ask him what is he currently taking/why/and to make sure he is not duplicating ingredients in his current product choices because that is where you waste money. Most vitamin and or mineral supplementation depends on daily doses, spread out thruout the day, with or without food, and you reap the benefits over time. Its like mutual funds for your body. A longterm investment. Taking them every other day doesnt do that, neither does taking 1/2 of them every day. You may just need to trim down what you want to take versus what you can afford and add in the extras when you have the cash. Shop around for the best quality and prices too. joni |
