|| Dieting without exercising is self defeating.

Nonsense....some people can't exercise.

||
|| Your body will adapt to the reduced calorie levels and slow down,
|| meaning that you will have to reduce you calorie intake even further.
|| You will end up being perpetually hungry.

Nonsense. By your logic, if the body as indeed slowed down, its need for
food will have decreased.

||
|| If you exercise, you build muscle and increase your BMR and can lose
|| weight without restricting you diet so much.

Exercise is not a guarantee of building muscle.

||
|| There are no free rides, exercise or be prepared to be miserable and
|| permanently tired and hungry.

Hogwash. Exercise is certainly good and has a world of advantages, but it
is not a requirement to lose weight. Exercise is advised, however, but this
**** you're yapping about being miserble and perpetually hungry is pure
bull****.

Your post is hogwash. Lifting weights builds muscle provided that you feed
the body properly at the right time- ideally within the first 3 hours after a
workout. There's a regimen B-builders use that really works well.

Reducing caloric intake *will* slow your metabolism which is well
documented, but with Atkins/SB there is no limit, so where's the argument?

And lastly, lay off this person as he/she is obviously in a rut right now.

"Can't exercise"? explain, please.

Pat in TX

For a long time - the only exercises I was allowed to do were muscle
strengthing exercises while laying on the floor or sitting. That happens
after surgery alot. I had 6 surgeries in the span of 6 1/2 years and at
times during those years - it was about all I could do to walk - the pain
was so bad. Now that I am behind surgeries (I hope to never have more
surgery) - I can exercise again and it doesn't hurt to walk and stand
anymore. So there are people out there for one reason or another that can't
exercise much or at all or very effectively for weight loss. Some others
don't exercise due to laziness - that's different.

I know of nearly proteinless dieters who have and are buiding considerable
musclulature.

Metabolic slowdown is not, mof, often not induced by dieting.
