South Beach Diet
Dear Readers
I have had great sucess with the South Beach Diet (no I am not selling anything, nor do I know anyone who profits from the sale of the diet). My average weight loss is about 1/3 a pound a day - and that is with some dining out. My question is: What causes people to go off the diet and regain the weight? I know sometimes I would like a donut, but it is not that big a deal to either share it, or just ignore the transient craving. Thanks for your help. Cordially J. Doe |

Ultimately it comes down to...INCENTIVE AND MOTIVATION
When people start a diet, wheter low cal, low carb, low fat, or whatever they have some type of motivation to lose. However, if they lose that motivation, then they lose to will to lose. I tell anybody thinking of going on a diet to decide on their big "WHY." If they know why the decided to diet, they will know what their movitivation and incentive truly is. When you know your motivation, and remind yourself of what it is....you WILL be successful. So..I don't think the question is WHAT (diet to use..etc.)...I think the question should be WHY (are you dieting.) JaBee Quote:

Dear JaBee
To me, the diet I finally found was the one that I could live with. Do I think the diet is perfect? No. It needs more natural fruits for a balanced diet. But the diet has done what it promised, as long as I follow the guidelines. As to why diet, I was getting tired of getting the 'next size up' in pants... 32, 34, 36, 38... Finally I said enough, the inches are coming off because of the diet, but I have found no real cravings for the 'forbidden' foods. I can't see going back to the old eating habits, though I still have 15+ pounds to go before I will reach my goal of a size 34/36. I guess you are right about motivation/self perception, I just can't see myself being larger than what I was used to five years ago. "JaBee" wrote in message ... Hey John
Hey John...
Once people find a motivation, I always suggest they find a way to hold to it. Why not find a pair of size 34 pants, and hang them in the front of your closet, or someplace you will see them every day. When you see them, and remember what your goal is, you will find it pretty easy to hang onto the diet you have chosen. Another idea is to hang a picture up on the fridge (perhaps of yourself in those 38 pants.) That is a great incentive when you are reaching for that snack!! Good luck to you... Way to go... I started with size 54 pants (and very tight) and now am down to size 46.. of course my goal is to get a lot lower and keep giving away these big old pants!! You know, I dont have a pants size goal, but I suspect that size 38-40 will be very possible when I reach 225. Keep it up...
