Default Atkins & Hair Loss

Hey all -
For the past month, I've noticed I've been shedding a ton of hair in the
shower. My mom noticed the bathroom counter has become "gross" when I blow-dry
my hair, and when I got my haircut today, my hairdresser said, "Have you
noticed you've been losing hair? It's so much thinner - I used to have to
blowdry for a good half hour."

I checked out Yahoo!, and saw people on Atkins do shed hair. I don't want to
keep thinning, though, so should I start eating more healthy carbs? Yogurt,
fruit, orange juice?

I had the same thing and it scared me to death at first. But after a few
months my hair regrew and it came in even nicer than before. I did take more
Biotin.. which I read was good for hair loss.

I was also told that most people that had a *significant* weight loss would
lose hair,
regardless of the diet they use.

Do you remember how long you'd been on Atkins before noticing hair loss?

I have noticed I am loosing some hair also. Not going bald or anything just
more hair falling out than usual. I have lost 46 pounds since April and have
just started to notice this within the last month. So if this is normal for
someone who has lost a significant amount of weight Will this stop? I think
taking my vitamin daily as I should be might help. I sometimes slack on the
vitamin.

Ditto, I've stopped taking the vitamin. Today, I was so worried that I "carbed
up." For lunch, I had a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's - for dinner, a
bagel w/ cream cheese, a cup of low-fat yogurt, and a cup of green tea.

I don't know, I'm thinking of switching to a low-calorie diet... I don't want
to go bald. My friend's mom actually got bald spots from dieting - yikes.

It did for myself and others on another board I read. It just took a few
months for our systems to settle down and get used to this new body and way of
eating.
I didn't change anything, I stayed low carb and my hair came back beautifully!
Really, it's nicer than it was before.. thicker and it's like the strands
themselves are thicker and it lays nicer.. used to be flyaway.
All I did was take Biotin.. nothing else.

I'm not exactly sure.. but it was at least several months. I started on June
1st last year, and I think I started noticing my hair falling out while
shampooing sometime in
September or October. I had lost 30 lbs at that point.
Sometime this May I was getting a haircut and the stylist complimented my
healthy hair.. and it made me realize that it was back! lol.. hadn't noticed
that I wasn't worried by it anymore I guess!
