"amylou" writes: don't say Atkins-inductionesque 20 gms a day.. I've tried that, and I just can't do it. That's just to kick-start you into ketosis. Right after that, you're *supposed* to increase carbs until you hit the magic CCLL balance point, which can be up to 100g/day for some people. I don't like to eat meat all that much anyway.. Other forms of LC foods: Mayo, olives, avocado, fish, salad dressing, nuts, butter, cream sauces. |

So.. is there a middle of the road? 100g a day or less is generally recognized as a ketogenic diet. |

Are you exericsing? What about meds? What are your fasting and through-the-day blood sugar levels like? I think it is too.. yes, I exercise some (not nearly enough, I know). I am on meds, but I'd like to get off of them, which is one of the reasons I'm exploring eating low-carb. My blood sugars have actually been doing very well.. fbg's between 95 - 110, pp's usually stay under 130, and my last A1c was 5.6. But I know that's due to the meds.. and I don't like the idea that I'd have to take them forever to keep my bg's low. I'm really pretty excited about trying this.. hopefully I can stick with it! Thanks for your advice... Amy |
