Default 149! In addition to Dally's lunch...

FWIW, I lost 70 of 86 pounds before most people noticed I'd lost any
weight. I didn't really care since I only lost the weight for me and
not for anyone else's benefit.

Today I weighed in at 149 lbs. :-). While it's only one pound less
than I was, breaking 150 seems like a big deal. I have not weighed
under 150 since I was in my 20s (and I'm 56 now). I'm very pleased
with myself :-).

Dally -- I have a strange problem that is like the opposite -- my best
friend, who has lost some weight in the last 6 months, has not
commented on my weight loss at all. She is still heavy, but obviously
down at least a couple of pant sizes.

I noticed last month that she looked great and I told her so -- I let
her know everything she was doing was obviously working for her and
that I was proud of her. I didn't get anything then, but I didn't
think much of it since I didn't feel like I had lost significant
weight. Now I'm down 25 lbs, everyone is noticing, and still nothing
from her. I thought maybe it wasn't obvious, but a co worker came up
to me today and said I am an inspiration to her because I'm shrinking
before her eyes, and I look so healthy.

I think I would take the grudging compliment (and that's what it is!)
of being too skinny over being ignored.

You don't say how your friend reacted to your telling her she looked
great. I ask this because personally I absolutely hate anyone
commenting on my weight, even if it's a complement, and the other side
to this is that I have never, ever commented on anyone else's weight.

Thus someone I see regularly such as a friend or co-worker could lose
100 pounds and I would never say a word. Not because of jealousy, but
because I just can't bear getting into weight-related discussions with
anyone.

Just a thought, and I wondered if your friend was perhaps like this.

This is fascinating - my 2 best friends and I could (and do) have weight-
related discussions anytime. It's our favorite topic. (SO much better
than kid's soccer :-/ )

I know I'm the unusual one here I think it's because issues of
weight and food are so heavily loaded with other issues and meanings
for me that I can't really discuss them rationally, except for
somewhere like here. If I'm at work and a discussion on diet starts
up I sometimes feel I have to actually leave the room rather than be
drawn into the conversation.
