Smile I'm new!

Hi. I just found this forum today & wanted to introduce myself. My name's Jewel. I've lost 58 lbs so far. I had lost 67, but gained some back. I started out at 272 and I am now at 214. The gaining back is why I'm here. The past month or so, it's become harder & harder to stick to it. I know how to do it. I've been doing it for almost a year. But, the motivation is slowly leaving me & I need a boost! Hopefully, joining this forum will help.

Why do you think it is getting harder? Has something changed? Are you
keeping too many carbs in the house? Is someone opposing your effort?

My stats are somewhat similar to yours. I also go through periods
where it is harder to stick to my new way of eating, and times when I
think that I'm not making any progress at all. It does help for me to
read this newsgroup. I see how far others have come, and how well our
maintainers have done. I just tell myself that even if I don't have as
dramatic as success as someone else, I am still in the game. Even if I
never lose another pound, I'm much better off than I was when I was
almost 260 pounds. Then I think of how it was back then. I remember
having a hard time squeezing into restaurant booths were the table is
affixed to the floor. I remember having to wedge myself into the seats
at the movies. I remember when my knee hurt all of the time. And I
think, do I really want to go back to living like that?

The answer is always "no". I might have a bad day, week, or even
month. But the hassle involved in losing weight is worth the effort.

I hope that you find this newsgroup to be a useful to you as it has
been for me.
