feeling down and don't know why......
The last couple of days since i've come home, i have been feeling really
down. Not really depressed just said and lonely. I am also not happy about my weight. I weighted myself this morning and which I haven't done in the last little while , and it said that I was 140lbs. I shouldn't be at that weight. I have been noticing to that the weight is getting to me. I'm only 5'4 and my ideal weight is between 108 and 135 I believe. I know that it's up to me to do something about it. And god believe me I am trying...... I have a lot on my plate to deal with right now. My b/f are havin problems (what else is new though), I'm stressed a lot lately. My best friend is getting married in 21 days and I am stressed because I have no money for the wedding and I have to get hair make up and nails done. Plus there is the rehersal dinner. And the wedding gift. Well you get the idea. Also at the same time I have bills to pay, and rent. It's never ending. When I get stressed I eat and i eat even if I'm not hungry , and it's to the point that I feel like I want to get sick to my stomach. I know I have a problem and I am trying to work on it. As I'm sure you know it's not that easy. I'm cutting myself off of all junk food (sugar) and diet sodas today. I wasn't going to follow the Atkins diet until June 1 after my best friends wedding but it's in 21 days. So I'm going to start now. Today this is day one to making myself a better person a healthier person. I have to do this. No if's and and butts about it. I don't want to be back up to where I was at this time last years which was 152.5 lbs. No way. I rememeber how I felt then and I didn't like it. So I am going to post here. As often as I can . I will also post my menus that you guys can give me pointers and make sure that I am following the plan right. I need all the help I can get right now. Thanks for listening and sorry for ranting. But I needed to get this all out. You guys have been great help for me so far and I hope that you can help me out even more. Angie |

I have some suggestions for you right now, take them or not, your choice. Freely offered, and you're free to reject them, of course. 1. When you do post your menus, if you get any criticism, don't get mad about it. Everyone on here has opinions about what should or should not be eaten on a low-carb diet, so don't be surprised or get emotional if people argue. 2. In my opinion, too much stress causes stalls or gain even if you _don't_ overeat. I suggest making a list of your main stressors, and prioritize them from the most important to the least important. Then let something go. Like, obviously it is important to make rent, but maybe getting your hair and nails done for a wedding isn't worth stressing over. If she's really your best friend, she won't get mad if you tell her money is tight. Maybe if all the girls in the wedding party go to the same place for hair and nails, you could get a group discount? 3. Reassess your relationship with your boyfriend. Are you just have normal relationship problems that everyone has and you just need a little work? Or are the problems red flags that you are not right for each other? One of life's big truths is that it is MUCH better to be alone than to be stuck with the wrong person. 4. Instead of eating to relieve stress, try exercising. This works in almost all human beings. Aside from how good it is for you physically, if you do it right you're almost sure to get a relaxing, good, "high" feeling from it. 5. Remember that life is about learning and change. None of us are perfect in every area of life, so if and when you mess up with something, remember that is part of life, part of being human, and one of the best ways to learn. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. feeling down and don't know why......
Thank you Luna for your suggestions. I will take them to heart. I have
decided to do my hair myself. And I really don't need make up for the wedding don't wear it anyway, and as for the nails. I'll buy some polish if I can and do my nails my self. And I talked to my best friend and she doesn't care if I can't afford to get all that stuff done she just wants me in her wedding. And as for the B/F stuff, it's just everyday problems that we have and he is the one I know that I want to be with. we have been together for a years on my best friends wedding and have to much too throw it all away now. I am going to sit down later on today and write down all the things we have to pay money to and try and make a buget and see if that works to make things easier for me. I mostly get strressed out when I am at work so exercise is out of the question then (as mentioned before I work at Tim Hortons ) so it's very stressful. But I guess that I could keep buisy there by doing other things. Like cleaning or something. And I will try not to take things too serious or too heart when people on here give advice. It's not easy but I will try. Thanks for your imput any other advice would be greatful. And I promise I will try and not get angry if I don't like what I here . feeling down and don't know why......
First of all you don't HAVE to get you hair, nails and makeup done. There
are some of us guys that like a more natural look anyway, so save your money and buy a nice inexpensive gift. Maybe a cheap bottle of wine or something. Relax. Weight can all get us down now and again. Just keep plugging away. They say a person's true character is shown when in tough times. Anyone can show character in good times. Use this tough time to get stronger and do your best. When it is over, you will look back on it and see how strong you are to do well in what seems to be a tough time. Then you will feel great knowing you are doing the best you can. Believe me, it can be worse. Curt "Angie" wrote in message ... feeling down and don't know why......
Angie says,
The last couple of days since i've come home, i have been feeling really down. Not really depressed just said and lonely. Becky says, Angie, we all get this way once in a while, if we are honest with ourselves, and women, in particular. Take Luna's advice, pay the bills like rent and other important things, do your own hair, and if you feel like you need a professional manicure (a "professional" is someone who gets paid for something), find a professional manicurist who needs some babysitting work done and work out a trade, etc...maybe you have time or something she could use done. But, IMO, do your own. The weather really affects my mood. I hate to admit it...and my monthly cycle. I can be very happy and normal and then one day wake up a grouch and really impatient and even down. A few days later, I'm okay again, but in the meantime, I feel sorry for my family! About your weight...be glad it isn't really high! If you only need to lose about 12-13 lbs. to initial goal, then count yourself blessed. Most people reading this would love to be there. Quit beating yourself down, go check out your BMI and see where you compare with the rest of American women your age and you are probably quite normal, or even under the 50 percentile range. That may make you feel better...or it may not. Weddings tend to be stressors...for everyone. Be esp. kind to your friend who is having the wedding and focus on helping her...with time and energy, if you have any left. Let her know you will help her any way you can...cleaning bathrooms if necessary...and she will be grateful. (and mean it!) If she has to "worry" about your emotions and try to "help you"...it may be more than she can handle right now. Weddings are supposed to be fun. It is a big problem I have...most people focus more on the "wedding" than on the "marriage." The wedding is for a day, but the marriage is supposed to be for a lifetime, but we manage to go in debt big time, stress out majorly, and even get upset over something that is supposed to be wonderful. Just remember, you think more about yourself and how you look than other people do! Remember that. You will probably lose 10 lbs and not even many people will notice. People don't tend to be so observant, you know. We're all pretty self centered and people have to substantially change before others notice. Becky P. 199/142/135 |

Paula Begoun's "Blue Eyeshadow Should be Illegal" used to be a good make-up instruction book, I don't know if it's still around. (One tip: use either a little moisturizer, if you don't need some kind of coverage, or a foundation, to give powder shadow and blush something to stick to evenly.) As to nails, if I were to attempt to apply polish neatly, it would take me hours, but stick-on nails look fine in wedding pictures. :-) -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |

Angie,
I strongly recommend "Feeling Good" by Dr. David Burns. You can get it in paperback. It is an AWESOME, eye-opening book and I am sure it would help you feel better It helped (and is still helping me) immensely. When you feel yourself getting tense, take a few deep breaths letting them
out slowly, it's simple but it really does help. A budget is a good idea, keeping track of where your money goes is as important as keeping track of what you eat. It can be a surprise to find out how much you are dribbling away on little things. In , Angie stated | Thank you Luna for your suggestions. I will take them to heart.
