There ya go. Induction is supposed to be two weeks for a reason.
Stalling as a result of staying too low is the oldest cause of stalls
on the books. Well, it's the second most common stall cause after
the bars, but it predates the existance of bars.

So move on to OWL. Yeah, the book gives you permission to stay
low. How's that been working for you? Move on to OWL.

Less isn't more. The initial 20 grams of Atkins isn't the best
level, it's merely a deliberate undershoot to get most into ketosis
quickly.

Sure it isn't obvious. If fat loss wer obvious, who would be fat?

What in the world could I be doing wrong?

Others have written about metabolic problems and so on. Maybe.
But a LOT of people stall if they stay low. And increasing your
carbs is a lot easier than all those specialized medical tests
in addition to being a more likely fix.

I have been 365 for over a year now. each time I weigh myself I am
still EXACTLY 365 never 366 never 364 always the same 365 (shouldn't
my weight fluctuate a little ?)

Well I got to disagree with assorted other posters. Here's where
I get to agree with assorted other posters. It looks to me like
you've pegged that scale. It probably reads anything 366+ as 365.
If so who knows how much you've lost.

And that brings up the question of measurements. Have you used a
measuring tape? What we really diet for is size when it comes down
to9 it. Pounds just happen to be an extremely inaccurate side
effect that just happens to be trivial to measure. Measure for your
real progress.

Breakfast is pretty much just eggs. with sometimes pepperoni or sausage
tossed in.

So to get to 25 add a tomato or similar. It'll help you spread your
increased carbs across the day.

Suggestions please

More carbs. Not obvious, does work.

A change in how one's clothes fit usually works, those measuring will work

Actually, Lyle didn't make up the Ketogenic Diet, it has long been used for
weight loss. He just laids out the issues and gives around 600 cites - so
his stuff is based on sound research, mostly. Moreover, Lyle doesn't
promote a ketogenic diet, either.

Yes, pretty funny, too.

But unless they changed something since he died,

True, but that is not the point here. Even if you follow Atkins (a
ketogenic diet - and grouped by Lyle as a Standard Ketogenic Diet), this
conversion would be true -- when it applies. I don't believe it is as
simple as was stated, however.

hehe that is exactly what I am going to do tommorrow. my laptop weight 12.5
pounds so I will take it with me and see if it shows over 378 :-)

I think the scale goes that high since I am almost CERTAIN the last time I
did this it did measure me to 399 (that is what caused me to jump hard core
into the diet thing I did NOT want to pass 400)

Chris Taylor
http://www.nerys.com/

Perhaps he should take a 5-10 lb weight with him the next time he steps on

the
scale and try weighing with and without holding the weight. If there is

no
change, then he knows the scale is maxed out.

Well I sure do not need you calling me a lyer. I say what I mean and mean
what I say. nothing more nothing less.

I am eating SIGNIFICANTLY less food since starting atkins on a daily basis
than I did in the last several years.

in the last several years I managed to NOT gain or lose much weight. since
starting atkins I am eating FAR less AND staying strictly to the carb counts
as best I can and nothing has changed.

when I first started atkins this time around I was eating a lot (but still
far less than I did before atkins) but after about 10 days my appetite
dramatically reduced. I literally stopped being hungry as much. in fact some
days I had to eat more often for I forgot and wanted to make sure i did not
go nuts on one meal (as per atkins suggestion in his book)

My average day starts with 3 or 4 eggs (3 if I have some sausage or
pepperoni 4 if I have just eggs)

Lunch I will grab a string cheese or two and a pickle or two.

Dinner I cook whatever I buy. today I had Salmon and 2 cans of green beens
with butter and grated cheese.

the salmon by the way was amaingly astonishingly good (too bad it costs so
much) I hope to squeeze that in more often.

I did not have breakfast today. nor lunch (I slept in as I did not get home
from work till around 0500) tonight (0300) I had a pickle and 2 string
cheese.

Wednesday I had 3 eggs and 4 sausauge links. that "night" I had a hot dog on
the way in (7-11 quarter pounder NO bun off course) that night I had 2 Wawa
Salads (Roasted Chicken with ceasar dressing) each sala with dressing is 6g
carbs)

Thursday I had a large cup of meatballs (6 meatballs on the way in) and
again that night 2 salads (wed adn thurs are always the same as it is
convenient)

Sometimes I have chicken (with either two cans of gb's or a small bag of
garden medley (the gb;s are 7g each the bag of medley is 5g total) Sometimes
I have bit of chicken and scallops mixed together. I rarely hae beef as I
just do not like it without steak sauce. I eat a lot of chicken (lot as in
many nights a week) it is somewhat affordable compared to the other options
and I like it and can prepare it many ways)

Breakfast is always eggs soetimes with sausauge (rarely) or pepperoni (again
rarely)

At night I will sometimes have 2 jello cups (pre made stuff) with a VERY
small squirt of whipped cream (mix it all up amazingly good and satisfying)
and a string cheese or two.

a 24 pack of string cheese will usually last me 2-3 weeks. I have jello once
every 3 or 4 nights (I really like it and do not want to get bored with it
eating it too often)

I also consume a minium of 100oz of water a day and try to get mroe if I
can.

THIS is my basic diet. in the I now keeps bags of sunflower kernels. (5gcarb
a bag 1 bag lasts a week) to nibble on (1.5 hours drives each way)

I used to eat a lot of pork roll and spamm but soe said the nitrates could
be bad so I completely dropped any and all nitrates. no joy.

When I have chicken I usually have two peices. when i have fish its usually
the entire "package" think the thickness and area of the average "steak" you
would get at a restaurant and that is how big a peice of fish I have etc..)

I am really not sure where I could be going wrong ????

Its not mine. its the vets (I have had NO success in finding a scale that
will go high enough. sharper image has one that does 350 which I will get as
soon as I am under 350)

I am almost certain it does goto 400 since I could swear IT is what I used
when I was 399 a year ago and tried atkins the first time. (I stopped after
3 months when the weight loss stopped)

when I started again this time I was pleased I had gained nothing back (IE I
ended then at 365 and started now at apparently 365)

I am going to take something of known weight with me tomorrow and see if the
scale goes "up" by that much.

Is your scale working? Also what is the highest weight it
measures? Otherwise, this makes no sense to me.

I too feared this even though I drank tons of it the first time around.

besides the jello (and I eat that rarely) I have illiminate 100% of any
other source of aspartame (all my soday is no artificial flavor color and
uses splenda (sucrolose) and no caffeine etc..) or its water as much as I
hate it but I am very eager to lose weight.

No medication. I tried LC bars but they are extremely unpalatable to me so I
do not bother with them (and they are expensive :-)

The Fluctuation thing is what I thought that is why I am so surprised that
it NEVER changes.

Chris Taylor
http://www.nerys.com/

I agree with Martin, something has to be wrong with the scale.
Everyone fluctuates at least a couple of pounds. Have you noticed any
change in waist size?

Have you eliminated all aspartame besides the sugar free jello?
Atkins claimed aspartame could stall some people, though it hasn't
been a problem for most of us. Are you on any medication? Using any
of the LC bars or candy?

I suggest you post a couple days of typical food and beverage intake,
maybe we can then spot something.
