Default BP medicine

I would like to hear from any of you who have gone off of blood pressure
medicines and/or cholesterol medicines due to weight loss.
I have cronic high blood pressure and genetic high cholesterol and I would
love some inspiration. I keep hoping once I get my weight down I might be
able to reduce the meds. Especially now that my insurance has changed and I
am paying more.

I never hit the point of being on cholesterol medicines. Mine was at 235 2
years ago but the doctor did not pursue putting me on meds. This year, after
losing 25 pounds and eating a whole lot better I am now down to 175. No need
for cholesterol meds. I think the major culprit for me was the large
quantities of cheese that I used to consume. I'm eating cherrios for
breakfast which is supposed to help lower cholesterol. I don't know if
losing weight and a change in diet will help someone with genetic high
cholesterol. From what I have read, losing the weight will help with your
blood pressure or at least that is what the doctor keeps telling my husband
as an insentive to lose weight.

I've not been on medication, but before WW my bp was 145/95 (I'm 30).
Latest check (after reaching goal) was 130/78. I attribute most of that to
losing the extra weight and eating better.

Default BP medicine

Four years ago I weighed 272lb and my BP was just above normal, now - with a
much healthier diet and weighing 196lb my blood pressure is higher and if
it's still high in another month I have to start medication.

No, I can't explain it either.

My doctor did suggest taking a fish oil supplement as that can help some.

I am lucky to be able to say I don't take any meds but I have heard several
talk about needing less so keep up the good work and I am sure you will be
rewarded, Lee
