Default Popcorn

I don't know who it was in this group that mentioned the microwave
popcorn popper that you can get at Wal-Mart for $7.99, but I wanted to
thank you so much for that tip!

We've been buying the old-fashioned Orville Redenbacher ever since we
learned about the trans fats that are so common in microwaveable
popcorn. You know, the jar with corn kernels that you pour out into a
measuring cup...

We've been popping it with a corn/canola oil blend in a pan on the
stove. It never got crispy, though; it was always a little chewy,
unless we put it in the oven for 10 minutes or so afterwards.

Now that we're on WW, we thought the microwave gadget sounded like it
was worth a try, and it came out great! It was actually crispy and
wonderful. Only problem was trying to get the salt to stick to it. I
got some popcorn salt today. It's milled to a very fine powder. I'm
hoping that this will stick to the popcorn better.

Anyway, thanks again for the great tip! My wife is thinking about
getting another one to keep at work.

My mother has a hot air popcorn maker. The only way that I can get salt to
stick is to spray some "I can't believe it's not butter" spray on the
popcorn first. Gives it a slight buttery flavor plus the salt sticks.

I didn't really like the taste of the plain microwave popcorn. I get the
Jolly Time Healthy Pop. Has no trans fat or saturated fat. It's only 1
point per serving and tastes great with the buttery and salty taste. Also
*no clean up* :-)

I love the mini-bags that many brands have come out with recently. One
serving per bag. I like salt and frequently grab a handfull of preztals. I
discovered that a mini-bag of popcorn has less sodium and more fiber than an
ounce of pretzals. Plus it is a point less.
