The lightest time is first thing in the morning, without clothes,
after visiting the bathroom. This is what I do, because I think it's
also the most consistent without the effects of the day's intake of
food and liquids.

Default Question about daily weighing

Hello again,

Can anyone tell me the best time of day to weigh yourself? I guess I'm
wanting to weigh myself when I'm the lightest during the day. Just curious
about the regimen you guys use. I'm guessing that one should weigh in the
same time of day each time. Right?

Thanks again,

Paul

IMO the best time is the same time, so you can compare any progress.

I agree. I've found that in the morning is the best time. Well,
actually, whatever time you normally get up will work, too. You've
just gotten out of bed, emptied your bladder and haven't put
anything in yet. You've also processed pretty much everything you
ate the day before so all excess fluids should have been taken care
of and you don't have to undress too much to weigh without clothes.
You do generally want to weigh without any clothes on, or at the
very least, the same type of clothes every time. I've weighed my
clothes, just as an experiment, and they can easily add 10+ lbs.

The only thing that really matters is the consistency, though. If
you can't stand to look at the scale as soon as you get up, don't do
it. Just make sure you weigh yourself at close to the same time each
day. Keep in mind that what you eat, drink, the weather, clothes
and how much exercise or movement you've done all make a difference.
Don't get too hung up on daily numbers, pay attention to what
happens over a week and then a month to judge how you're doing.
Daily helps to see how particular foods or activities affect you,
though, so it can be helpful. Whatever works for you.

I weigh myself first thing in the morning, once a month, at the same time as
I measure my waist and do a caliper test. Weight is a relatively minor part
of the health/fitness story - and is always overdone IMHO.

Only you need to know how much you weigh - but everyone you meet will know
how you *look*.

Default Question about daily weighing

As with anything, consistancy is the key. I'm in the "first thing in the
morning" group. When I went to Weight Watchers, I always wore the same
outfit to the meetings to be sure I was getting a consistant weight reading.

Once every 7 days at most. For women, once a month and
always on the same day of the cycle. Otherwise you are
going to drive yourself crazy.

Default Question about daily weighing

I agree Janice,

It sounds like we are in the same boat. I've noticed that I weigh the
least in the morning after the trip to the men's room. Last night I weighed
245 this morning 243. I think I''' weigh myself in the mornings.

Thanks again,

Paul

Thanks everyone for your comments. I weighed last night and was 245. This
morning I was 243, so I guess I'm going to be a morning weigh person myself.

Thanks again,

Paul

Glad you agree Paul, but I must point out that I don't make a morning
trip to the men's room)
