"Beverly" wrote in message ... "JMA" wrote in message ... "janice" wrote in message ... Well, as it's Monday night here and I'm about to go to bed, I guess I get to go first Monday's goal - 10,000 paces Actual paces - 19,480 This won't happen every day, but it was as a direct result of the challenge that I went out again after lunch today and walked in the botanical gardens, despite there being some rain while I was there. So thank you to whoever suggested we do this (Jenn, I think). janice My goal: 10,000 Actual: 9,500+ I just went to check my steps and see that not only is the time wrong, but the steps reset. It may need a new battery. I checked my steps about an hour ago and it was just at 9500 and a few. Now it says 1132 but I'm done for the day. It was 5,000 after work - a sedentary day because I was stuck in front of the computer doing stuff for people while my students were on field trips or otherwise occupied. Thanks to the challenge I hopped on the treadmill after my weight workout...and I actually RAN again! I started walking (4 MPH) and just did some high intensity intervals (6-6.5 MPH) every few minutes. It was my first time running since this spring. I'm psyched and ready to work my way back up in time to run that 5 mile race again in March. BTW, I believe that Mary M. started the original pedometer challenge and jmk kept it going by starting a new one the next month. I really like these challenges because it is nice to focus on specific, healthy goals and it does increase positive interaction among the group here - and gets the new people involved. I was serious about having a different challenge every week. We did that in HMR - for example one week we were told to try a completely new physical activity. That's how I ended up learning rock climbing. Happy stepping! Jenn Congrats on getting back to the running. I doubt my poor knees will ever tolerate running. I even tried the knee braces and they still said "One more step and we dump you on your a**". I like the idea of a different challenge each week. Maybe we could do a bike challenge one week. I know everyone doesn't have a bike but we could mix it with another activity of choice. Beverly That would be a cool idea. I'd have to do an alternate activity like the elliptical because our middle school football and volleyball seasons start on Thursday. I'll have a few games a week, plus my own volleyball league starts tomorrow. I'll only be able to bike on the weekends now. Jenn |
