Default Pedometer Challenge Reminder

Just a quick reminder that the pedometer challenge starts today and will
last until Friday.

How it works:
- you set a personal goal
- you where a pedometer all day and record the number of steps
- if you wish, you post the results to the appropriate thread the
following day

Why? There are a few reasons that you would want to do this. First,
you just want to get a baseline of where you are at now. Second, you
more or less know where you are at and you want to use this challenge as
a way to motivate you do more more.

Personally, I am doing this as a way to increase my daily activity
level. By meeting my goal for five days in a row, I hope to make some
of the small things that I did to reach this goal a part of my daily
routine so that I move more in general. For example, I think that I
average 7500-8000 steps per day normally. My goal is to move more so I
am setting my personal goal at 10,000 steps per day (plus my normal
workouts). I hope that eventually 10,000 steps will be my normal and at
that time I may want to further increase my goal for these challenges.

At any rate, I hope that you join us and have fun with it!

I'm ready for this! I wore mine over the weekend and was really pleased
with the outcome. I had 15,492 Saturday and 14,003 Sunday. Of course I was
out and about all weekend so I'm not expecting quite the same results during
the week. I'll probably need to supplement my count with a run on the
treadmill to hit 10,000 during the week

Darn it, I forgot to put it on before I went to the gym this morning. I think I'd
better run out and get a new battery for it today anyway -- it was acting funny on
vacation and didn't seem to be recording all the steps -- then went blank at one
point -- and I realized that it's had the same battery for at least two-three years.
So if all goes well I will be joining you tomorrow! Though with a lower goal than I
had done previously (12,000) -- my "bad" ankle is acting up and I don't want to
aggravate it. Good luck on meeting your goal today -- I know you can do it!

If you're near a Wal Mart they carry an inexpensive sportline model
that a number of people at work here are using.
