Default pop addiction

Hi all,

I have been having some difficulty quitting a bad pop addiction, and would
appreciate some encouragement/motivation. I am finding this equally if not
more difficult then quitting smoking five years ago.

Thanks,
David

Default pop addiction

i used to drink coke like it was water. I gave it up about 5 or 6 yrs ago.
have had 1 can since and it made me feel ill and hyper so i don't drink it
anymore. now i am trying to cut back and then cut out diet pop.
limit how much u can have in a day . i am doing two for one day and then
one for then next and then none. to see if that will help me. today i had 2
tomrrow i will only have one f any if i can help it. i used to drink other
caffiene but i gave it up and i work at tim hortons where i get my coffee
for free. now my problem is other stuff ( like donuts and such. i haven't
had any of those in a monthe and 3 days , i'm trying to work on cutting out
other things like high fat muffins and all the bad stuff that is sold at
Tim's)
so like i said about the pop take it one day at a time and slowly wing
yourself off of it , or cut urself off cold turkey. when i first went of
regular pop i just said enough is enough and stopped drinking it. hope this
helps you.

Have you tried Diet RC? No aspartame (splenda only) and has caffeine...

I also have gotten down to 1 or 2 diet cokes a day. But I don't drink
coffee. My diet coke is my caffeine boost.

i used to drink at least 2 liters of pepsi a day. i quit cold turkey at the
same time i quit smoking. Nicotine lowers the effects of caffiene so you
actually have a higher tolerance as a smoker. i figured i would tough it out
instead of having to quit the pop when i was even more addicted!!

good luck.

what kind and how much do you drink?

I used to be a 4 or 5 coke a day person. Over the course of about a year I
finally switched over to diet coke and now actually prefer diet soda to
regular soda mainly because of the sugar and sodium content.

I also have gotten down to 1 or 2 diet cokes a day. But I don't drink
coffee. My diet coke is my caffeine boost.

Diet RC has no caffeine.

Its the other Diet Royal Cola that does have the caffeine and I can't find
anyone around here that will carry it. They only carry the caffeine free
version.

Believe me, I'd like to use it and use splenda. BUT... can't since nobody
carries it.

I work in a fast food restaurant, and am allowed to drink all the pop I want
all day, and trust me in an 11.5 hour day that is a lot of pop.

I found I had to slowly wean myself off of it. I went from drinking coke,
to drinking half coke half diet coke, to just diet coke. Even that at
imagine drinking 10-12 medium glasses of pop a day sometimes more. I
sympathise. When I decided I needed to change the way I look at food, I
started drinking water.

The trick with me was, I had to cut out pop cold turkey. Drinking water
after drinking pop, made the water taste funny, and I had to brush my teeth
before I could have a glass of water. I found after about a week of
conciously avoiding pop, it started to feel natural to go to the tap for a
glass of water.

Now I don't feel as thirsty all the time, I drink less water than I did pop,
and I find I feel better, fewer headaches, fewer shakes, less anxiety and
hyperness, and I now rarely drink pop at all.

Meaghan

I drink around 8 - 12 of diet pepsi per day. I used to drink regular, but
switched a couple of years ago, and lost about 35 lbs.

There was an article about diet RC in the paper awhile back, emphasizing
it's use of splenda. It's been sold out in all the stores ever since.
Hopefully the cola companies will see a need for it and develop a new line
of products for diabetics.
